Hello folks, we have a club overlanding multi-day trip scheduled for 4/11-4/13 . As follows :
4/11 Fri afternoon/eve camping trona pinnacles onX Offroad - https://webmap.onxmaps.com/offroad/map/query/35.61478042602539%2C-117.37289428710938%2C15/overview
4/12 break camp @ 900-930am
Back to pavement route 178 (trona wildrose rd) heading for Ballarat "ghost town" area off pavement . onX Offroad - https://webmap.onxmaps.com/offroad/map/query/36.030662536621094%2C-117.247802734375%2C15/overview
Then north on (Indian Ranch Road) to jail canyon trailhead , onX Offroad - https://webmap.onxmaps.com/offroad/share/content?share_id=01JN59Q6ZAG9PK0BQRMA0H1M30 this Trail is one-way in and out. It takes us to a very well preserved extensive old mining ruins to explore. When we return back down the canyon to the main trail (Indian Ranch Road) will head west for historic minietta cabin . onX Offroad - https://webmap.onxmaps.com/offroad/share/content?share_id=01JN5A0NAJVRNT0YK9NC7X1XBR For 2nd night camping . 4/13 break camp 9-930am for the return trip south to Ridgecrest & home. This is the tentative scheduled trip which is subject to change & interest. The majority of this trip is on BLM land . Pending any weather or wind forecast in the area. If the weather/wind becomes a concern an alternate Club day run 4/12 is planned for the Miller Jeep Trail(trail run leader request) run with an optional camping saturday night . If any questions you can contact me directly. Except for jail Canyon the majority of the trails are acceptable for stock vehicles. High clearance & 33" tires preferred would provide a better overall experience. I would recommend you have capability to carry additional fuel, this is a remote area once we leave the small town of Trona. The next nearest fuel is pannamint Springs way north you can (Google search) its a bit of a detour and their fuel prices are quite high due to their remote location. Note the waypoints I have shared are for a general reference to the area's we plan to visit . The areas we plan to visit can be searched online. There is a variety of information available. Possibly even YouTube. Please reply and post only here for anyone who may have interest for the trip.

Thanks for putting together such a great itinerary, Marc!

Looks like 2 Tacomas for this trip. Me and son/DIL with their 2 dogs.

Got your info exportable to GIAA? Last thing I want to do is get another app.

Bump. Marc, can you export gpx files for use in other apps?

Bump. Marc, can you export gpx files for use in other apps?
Unfortunately, I wont be able to make this run. But I just got off the phone with Marc discussing OnXOffroad and how to possibly export onto Gaia. I myself, am also a Gaia user so I totally get not wanting to download/pay for another app. But based on talking with Marc and looking at the onx links with a free account, they are just waypoints/coordinates so there is really no need to export anything from OnX to Gaia; you can just copy the coordinates, and paste it onto Gaia and set those way points (faster in my opinion than trying to export 4 points then uploading it to Gaia) I think it would only make sense to export/import full gpx files if they are complete trails and not waypoints.

Marc's original post would go as followed:

4/11 Fri afternoon/eve camping trona pinnacles 35.61528, -117.37294
4/12 break camp @ 900-930am
Back to pavement route 178 (trona wildrose rd) heading for Ballarat "ghost town" area off pavement 36.03066, -117.2478
Then north on (Indian Ranch Road) to jail canyon trailhead, 36.14528, -117.23379 this Trail is one-way in and out. It takes us to a very well preserved extensive old mining ruins to explore. When we return back down the canyon to the main trail (Indian Ranch Road) will head west for historic minietta cabin. 36.2376, -117.42862 For 2nd night camping . 4/13 break camp 9-930am for the return trip south to Ridgecrest & home.

By copying, pasting, and saving these coordinates to Gaia, you would have the same waypoints Marc has linked to OnX. Hope this helps!

Looking forward on joining the next one!

What he said👌

I downloaded the onX app
Guess I had a free trial at some point so it wouldn't let me have another one.

Hi folks, a brief trip update, a week from today next Monday 4/7 afternoon I'll have to make a decision & update , based on wind weather . 35.61635-117.35945 are the aprox camping spot coordinates/location for trona pinnacles. You can navigate directly . The current weather up in the Ridgecrest General panamint Valley area for this week is not good. There is a high wind warning through Wednesday night. Yes the weather may be completely different in another 11 days. I plan on attending the club meeting this Sunday. If any questions I can be contacted directly.

Hi folks, after carefully monitoring the wind weather forecast for this trip. the trip is postponed for a future time. Wind forecast for Friday p.m. May exceed 30 mph gusts. Saturday p.m. May exceed 35 mph .If any questions you may contact me directly.
The wind currently in the area today Monday p.m. is exceeding 30 mph gusts. Club members, myself included were caught @ trona pinnacles last may in similar weather. Not too fun .

Marc, Good call on the wind. Nothing more miserable. Best to plan for fall when temps & wind are more reasonable. It is already too hot for DV!
