The damn wheel fell off... Hate I missed that!

If I was smart I would have extracted my head from my ass a few weeks ago and torn down the whole front end..gone through the knuckles, hubs, birfs, and whatever else could have been/probably is damaged.

I'm fully prepared to grenade a knuckle or, at the very least, destroy a birf or two next week (a little foreshadowing for you literary critics out there).

Yeah when Rob and i were under the buggy pulling the transmission .. Every bolt i touched was loose. Driveshaft bolts & all mounting bolts. I just tightened them all before Clayon.
Mostly nylocks nuts used as well.

Also spent about 5 hours trying to change the oil.

About three years ago I came down on a rock that hit square on the drain plug. It cracked the pan, and I instantly dumped all the oil. We towed it back to camp, cleaned it up, and welded the hell out of the pan. It’s held well.

Needless to say, the oil change required changing the oil pan. What a s*** job that is. I ordered two gaskets last week, and I’m pretty sure they sent me ones for a 3FE. Put it all back together, torqued all the pan bolts down a couple of times, and the back of the gasket that rides on the #4 bearing cap had been squeezed out. Either the gasket is wrong, or the replacement pan I have is slightly bent at the rear...maybe both.

@wct49 is getting us a correct gasket today, so we’ll try again. Fingers crossed.

Thanks for the help @jrob!
