I think I am going to put a flip up table of some sort on the inside of the door. Haven't figured it out yet.

Looking good for sure! Nice score on the 40 as well...looking forward to see how this turns out!

Fenders

Fabbed up a couple fenders today. It had round fenders originally, one was completely shot, the other wasn't great either. I like the looks of the fenders on the 416's so I went that direction.

I still need to pull them back off and finish welding them, then paint them and remount em. Decided to bolt them on instead of weld them to the tub, so fit up and paint will be nice and easy.

Top

Got a start on the frame work for the lid. Need to make a few more bows, I think one each end and three in the middle? Four in the middle? Not sure what I want to skin it with yet. Fiberglass? Aluminum? 14 ga steel? I am thinking I'm gonna go with the steel.

Got the skin on the lid and put the last hinge on. Just need to finish welding and grinding now.

X2 ^^ Looks great P, what's it weigh? You gonna run a pair of gas shocks to help with lift assist? McMaster-Carr has some good prices for higher # rated shocks. You gonna use Destaco toggle clamps or similar to keep the lid latched down or??

I am not sure what the weight is??? I can open it, but yeah I am going to put some gas shocks on. I will look at the McMaster-Carr site, thanks.

Yup, got some Destaco toggle clamps on the way, a paddle latch for the rear door, a nice wiring junction box, and some FJ40 taillights.

I ordered up the cheaper Taiwanese lights, and wouldn't you know it....they come all the way from Taiwan! Won't be here till the end of October! Oh well, it will give me some time to think about the rear bumper design.

Rather than McMaster Carr there is another site Reid Supply, based in Michigan, cheaper than Mc Master. Same products 18002530421 Ask for Tim DeVrendt, they advertise on Mud

Done For Awhile

Done working on it for a bit. I just put some cheapo tail lights on for now. It is painted and all the latches are on. Figure I will start saving up for the Roof Top Tent now, and start some badly needed work on the FJ40.

Would you mind giving the dimension from the shock mount to the side of the trailer body and lid. thanks..

Haha. No. Been a long, trying few months.

Tried to get the dimensions today, but the lid was frozen down. Still looking for the shock number. I put it right where I wouldn't lose it.....
