Picked up an immaculate 2009 with 185k miles. Upgraded from a 4Runner and it's a big difference(although I'll always keep my Runner)! Absolutely in love with it and can't wait to see what it's capable of.

Question for you all: I can't seem to get the aux input to work. I press the DISK * AUX button and all it will come up with is "No disk in changer" but nothing else ever happens. Am I missing something? Could the aux input have been disabled somehow? It's like it doesn't even know it has the capability. And I've tried it while plugged in and playing music.

Hit mode on your steering wheel until AUX comes up. Leave disk controls alone.

Yeah it does the same thing with the mode button on the steering wheel. Goes through all the modes except for aux. Like it doesn’t exist.

***You have something plugged in to the AUX port while doing this, right? If not, plug something in and try again.

So it seems the connection to the aux jack is wonky. If I hold it just right, it’ll work. But as soon as I let go, it stops and switches back to radio. Guess I’ll have to take that apart and investigate!

Ah.
Could be as simple as shooting a bit of electrical cleaner in there...then blow out with canned air, being careful not to let the canned air enter in its liquid form (can freeze and leave crud).

One issue with the early 200 AUX jack is that it’s hole faces upward in a spot where dust naturally settles. Not ideal.

By the way... Congrats and welcome to the forum! :)

Congrats! We said the same thing about our 4Runner. We love(d) that thing. Unfortunately it just wasn’t getting the attention it needed so after 24 years, we let her go...

And welcome

That roll down cargo window is seductive and hard to let go! Grats on the LC. No looking back now. New standard.

Good idea! I will try some contact cleaner and some air. If that doesn’t work, I’ve found a ton of videos about Tacomas, Tundras, Camry etc that removed the aux jack and found a pin had been dislodged and needed resoldering. Find this little bit in my factory service manual so getting it out should be a breeze!

Thanks! I think 24 years is long enough to have a vehicle 😂 I’m sure you got great use out of her!

Before you pull it apart, you might try just blowing it out (canned air) since it could just be particles etc.

Also could be a broken female jack. Easy to catch longer cables plugged in there if people forget and get out with cable attached, etc...

Thanks! Yup, that window is where it’s at! It’s a bummer they didn’t put it in the cruiser but I understand why. But you’re right, it’s an entirely new standard. Everything is such high quality, from how the doors close to how the sunglass holder latches to how the sunroof cover slides to how the headlight/wiper switches feel. Haha I obviously appreciate the little things.

Crawl under and look at the frame, welds and BEEF...and the difference with the LC becomes even more striking. :)
