That is rediculous. They have places all over S.C. where dirt trucks and logging trucks enter roads and they are always covered with mud. Sounds like time to raise hell at a city /county council meeting!
If that is the reason they closed.... thats an easy fix. All they need is a pressure washer on site to blow off the worst of the mud before you get out on the road.
Those logging trucks are supposed to have 500ft. of crush and run prior to enter the road to clean the mud or they can be shut down.
I imagine they will require the same for gorges along with a proper parking lot from what I understand.
But yes I do imagine the county was looking for any excuse to close them down and likely strecthed the regulations to shut them down
