The Gambler has done me great and taken us on many adventures, from cross country travel to full blown trail rig. It does it all and asks for more.

that being said it’s taken some of the adventure out of the adventure.

so it’s time to upgrade or should I say downgrade for the next road trip to someplace new

The turd really needed new rubber if it’s going to make this 3500 mile trip.

Facebook market place for the win on the SPARKOS and they came with new rubber! just sucks when they cost twice as much as the car

So a little back story for you guys

If you have never ever herd of the gambler 500, go check it out. A great event for everyone and they are car nuts so we get along well.

But main goal is a 500 mile offroad navigational challenge in a 500$ car. Which really gets you thinking when your done, how far can my 500$ car go?

that’s where the tan landcruiser came into play and then Sending it all over the USA just because the thrill of the trip and see where and how far 500$ Really will get you.

that being said I’m now comfortable with taking that 500$ s***box of a cruiser anywhere in the world. So a trip to Vegas/death Valley/Zion for Christmas from Kansas City has kinda lost the challenge.

The landcruisers Have just been living up to their name to well, and the “challenge” has lost its flair.

Welcome the To the Tercel aka the turd 💩

Step one was gut the car, mice had been living in it since it was parked 6 years ago.

the carpet, insulation, and sound deadener we’re beyond repair and fell apart in toe hands when ripping it out. Something that had to have been done.

Luckily the metal was still in great condition and after power washing on to a cheap easy fix, rhino lining the floors,

In the gambler world there is a 500$ Limit “rule” and I do my best to achieve that goal.

to do that sometimes you have to get creative on fixing things.

so when your fuel pump decides to quit working from the mice eating wires somewhere in the cab you get creative with the rear defrost

Only appropriate to give it some flair for the Vegas trip

buddy donated the dice and we modded for the shifter

seats were torn and trashed, so To the local parts store and their value bin, scored some bitchin seat covers for less than 5$ as well.

Cost breakdown

car-150$
Wheels and tires - 300$
Brake pads - 12$
Brake shoes - 26$
Plugs, wires, air filter - 47$

What’s left to do
Windshield - 170$
Tags and insurance - 85$

Almost have come in at the 500$ limit but the law says I must have a crackless windshield 🙄

Not to bad for not replacing any worn out parts, needs struts pretty bad, but it’s not crab walking down the road anymore and the wheel is straight.

I’ve never heard of the gambler 500 now I see Texas has an offshoot.
I’m going to watch this stuff like a hawk. Looks so much fun.

Most states do, Have had a blast with them all over the place, highly recommend everyone does at least one.
Love the idea, hate the fact that the cars only come out for those events, so started doing my own thing just to see, ya know like those dirt every day guys who guy buy a rig and drive home?
Like that but I buy a cheaper rig and drive it twice as far

Exhaust broke on the way to work today, dragged a whole 10 miles.

Being as I’m at my 500$ limit means no new parts for now

weld it solid and coat hanger it back up.

can’t be fuming out on the way to Vegas.
