So the turd needed rubber, so instead of buying new rubber for the 13 inch stock rims I went and found some Sparcos with decent rubber.

well once I put my buddies in the back of a car for a quick road trip/test run and the back tires are loosing sidewall from the wheel wells rubbing.

so we break out the steel pipe, loads my buddies back up and start rolling the car back and fourth.

nice rolled edge and No more wheel well destroying the sidewalls of the rear tires.

keep It simple, keep it cheap

And the fun begins.

at hwy speeds the engine temp drops off to nothing making for a rather cold ride.

so before the trip I did some work

like a good little boy I went ohh stuck thermostat. Changed and flushed the heater core and the whole coolant system with my fancy coolant flush machine at work. Tested old thermostat and worked like it should.

never got it on the hwy again before the trip but went heavy great works swell

get on the hwy yesterday and temps start dropping.
Full Cardboard the rad to try to get it to help, no avail.

do the whole landcruiser nose high and burpthing, no difference on hwy

upper rad hose is hot, lower is ice cold.

electic fans never come on

so at 30-40 mph engine will build heat and keep the cab warm, once you break the 60 mph mark you can watch the temp drop and heat leave the heater

Ideas?

Sometimes you need to stretch your legs.
if You have kids this is a great spot, loads to learn from and a huge activity center for the chitlens.
Loads to learn for the adults as well as a pretty cool war bird museum out back.

Welcome to the Gambler. My son and I did 3 events in 2019 and missed all of the 2020 events due to work and not having our 2021 Bronco ready. The Bronco looks a like like a Lincoln Town Car with a roof chop on 31 inch super swampers. For $56 you can buy a Donk lift kit on ebay and clear the tires.

wait did you just tell me to lift my Lincoln to fit 31’s ?!?!! Sign me up! Everyone wants a lifted town car on swampers

Grew up in a nuclear household, so power plants are kinda cool to me. We were all bummed it’s flu season and they have the dam shut down, one thing I really wanted to do while in Vegas was take this damn dam tour.

Sounds like We will have to come back for more hydroelectric knowledge.

Everyone talks about how big this dam is, and yes it really is huge. One of those you have to check it out yourself.

Yes we did, we also cut off the roof from behind the driver. It is a work in progress and we are trying to make more gamblers this year. If you need dam knowledge my brother is an operator at one of the largest hydro plants in the country. I can ask him questions.

Who doesn’t want more DAM knowledge

Wish it was open, but also enjoyed having the place to ourselves.

Nice Tercel. Those are tough little cars cor what they are. The stock wheels are not up to the task of carrying 5 dudes and 2 kegs in the back when you go over railroad tracks at 35 mph...and don't use the crossing.

This all reminds me of the trip Shelley and I took from Omaha to Spokane in the little rusty beater Corolla we bought to leave at the airport in Spokane for her work car. It made it out there with the most wobbly CV axle ever. On that trip, somewhere in Montana we heard about a train wreck on the radio, when I realized it was pretyy close we investigated. Really cool to see.

And all the trips in Tacoma named "Pamela, the electric Road Warrior," starting with a work trip to D.C. where I detoured to Cleveland to pick it up sight unseen, then rallied it back to Portland. It was demolished beyond belief, but in spite of the holes in the hood from the back of a claw hammer, was the best driving 1rst gen Tacoma I've ever driven.

There was the trip to the hot springs where some hippies wandered into our remote campsite to hang out (presumably after living in the woods for weeks.) They ended up talking me into a ride in the bed to a "better" spring they told us about. I heard the bat whack the forward bar of the ladder rack followed by a commotion in the back. Pretty sure the dude in overalls and combat boots with "LSD" tattooed on his arm got whacked in the head by it. It must have been an experience for them as well, they were out of their minds and we learned all about our alien overlords and the subliminal messages written in the stars that night.

Beaters are awesome, and road trips in them are even better. Some of my favorite motoring memories have been in vehicles most folks would look upon with disgust..

Rally on dude!

Klaus it does not get any better than that, I love it!

glad I’m not the only one around who enjoys some adventure with their road trips.

almost looks like the beaters need to get together and bring back the adventure in the road trip

Vegas was cool and very empty, it felt ghost town that no one turned the lights off in. No wait at any restaurant or crowded places anywhere. I think there was maybe 50 people on the strip walking around #empty

casinos were casinos, sucks all the shows were shut down because of covid. They would be the only reason why I’d find myself back in Vegas for a holiday
