Hi all,

Just got this fog light switch from a JDM MR2... Could any take a guess as what the upper switch position does (note Japanese writings)? What about wiring scheme?

As you could see, the switch has 4 wires: Red (switched power), Yellow (constant power from battery), Green/Yellow stripe (to dimmer or headlight on ???), and White/Black stripe (ground or something else ???)

Anyone ???

Well, I'm Japanese, but Japanese was my least favorite subject (still is), so (but) let me take a stab at it...

The top indicator light, I believe, comes on when you push in the button ("armed") and the bottom one comes on when/after the fogs are actually on because your marker/parking/headlights are on.

Am I making this up? I don't know, but that's what I'm sticking with. :D

Can't help you with the wiring question.

HTH,

looks like the same wiring as the US style - the other two should wire into the dimmer circuit - look at Slee's site.

Cheers, Hugh

Hugh,
Mine had a white/black tracer and a green/yellow tracer instead of green and green as Slee's. I don't have a FSM so don't really know if the white/black tracer wire is ground or not but I remember reading someone saying so somewhere.

Got myself a used DMM (a fairly new Fluke 87 Series III for $80) to replace my broken one over the weekend only to find out that the switch could not be found where I think I put it anymore - DOH -

Frank.
