It is weird, them calling it "Land Cruiser 70" kind of like what they did with the FJ Cruiser.

Regardless, even if it is modeled on the Prado light-duty version (from appearances), I'd rock one with the 4.0L v6 for USD $35k equivalent.

Thanks for the correction cause the article said it stopped production in 2004 for the 70. Obviously the author has no clue. Thanks again for clearing it up.

As above, just bringing it back to the Japanese market, still available elsewhere, here in Oz, I could walk out of my office and buy the v8 turbo diesel version and be driving it this afternoon.

According to the pictures posted with the article the 70 will continue with leaf springs.

Looks the same as the middle east spec but RH drive with the 4.0 V6 from the Hilux and Prado, coil front, leaf rear, no diesel option by the looks of it.
