In Kenya, they do what are called "Knock Down Kits": basically all of the parts to build a truck are sent to that facility and they just put it all together.

In a perfect world I could order a "Knock Down Kit" from Japan packed in a Seacan and have it delivered to my yard, where I could put it all together.

Japanese manufactured 7x vehicles are exported.

Australia manufactures Camry's and Camry engines (this plant is also closing next year).

Toyota Australia installs beds on some trucks and accessories at port. Nothing else.

Air conditioning. Every 7x LandCruiser comes to Australia without air conditioning, to be fitted locally as an optional accessory.

It's also exceptionally rare to see a styleside rear tub here, and I don't think you can order them from the dealer. Majority are fitted with a flatbed steel tray.

If willing to import a 25 yr old vehicle from abroad, why not buy an older Hilux at home to get a real small truck?
Although I'm obviously biased, a HJ75/79 Ute is SUBSTANTIALLY more truck than a similarly aged Hiluz.

Well, you displayed a brand new Toyota truck as if it were the only option for a quality small/medium truck in the US, if one didn't want to import a 70 series.
The Hilux is smaller, very well made and much more affordable than either of those options.

I was under the impression this thread was about the likelihood of a "new" 70 Series being sold in the U.S. so I simply compared it to a "new" truck that is actually available in the U.S. Can a new Hilux be bought in the U.S.?
