Yesterday I've bought my Old '87 LJ73 back after 4 years :)!! (No pics yet, didn't bring my camara) I've owned this car for more than five years before I sold her. The good part: in the time I have owned it, she got a 3L engine as a replacement for the old 2LT lump, an OME Heavy suspension system, Dobbinsons PU bushings all around, new front brake callipers and some other goodies.....

The bad part: She got a lot of warwounds over the time I have owned her (most of the body panels had dents)and started to rust a little. The new owner thought he could fix most of that with ducttape and some flat black paint....so 4 years later she really needs welding. The rear wheelwells are all gone, the doorsills have seen better days, the chassis needs some patches and the ugly handpainted flatblack has to go!!. So I have some work to do....:wrench:

Can somebody tell me if the front doors from a shorty can be used as a replacement?? She now has 2 piece doors all around which aren't that straight anymore and most of the doortops have some rustholes. I can get the single piece doors from a shorty but Í am not really sure if the front doors fit.

 Dennis

If yours has a fold down front window the doors to fit will be of a soft top swb or medium wheel base or ute
if not a troopy shorty or post 99 ute doors will fit

the bottom section of the doors fit it is the upper front corner that will be different.
Lowenbrau used hard top doors on his 73 and made a small piece to "fill" the gap. in the end unless you knew better it looked factory.
seems hard top doors are a LOT more plentiful than the removable top doors.

Thanx Wayne,

Can I find pictures of what I need to "modify" ?? The swb doors are much more straight (Like I said, most of the body parts have had contact with trees, rocks and other stuff), Don't have several coats of paint (The idiot, aka PO also handpainted it orange -the Dutch national color- before the matt black paint it has now) and are almost rust free. But if I have to change a lot the swb doors to make them fit I don't know what is easier....

Cheers Dennis

contact Lowenbrau here on the forum, he might have a pic of his adapter...

I don't have a pic. Sorry. It was simply a crescent shaped piece of metal to fill the gap between the rounded door and the square corner. I welded a tab with a hole in it so it would bolt into place where the windshield connects to the roof.

My english isn't really bad I think but on this one I better have a loook on both doors now......'cause I think I know what you what you are saying but I'm not really sure......

Thanx anyway!!

Dennis
