I've finally found a decent solution for BT audio in my 06 with NAV

I have the nav option. I have a LX not LC but I think the units are the same. I will add that since the install my unit has started to intermittently glitch/freeze. I don't see how this install could be at fault but the added functionality is worth putting up with the infrequent glitch. I thought it was a cracked pin 60, documented elsewhere, but I resoldered that pin with no luck.

Hi, I just received the same bluetooth adaptor and plugged it in the CD changer port. I can get the bluetooth to connect to my iPhone but the head unit displays "external unit not connected" when I select the CD option on my head unit. I did not get the Y adaptor to keep the CD changer plugged in as well. Do you think that could be the issue? I'm glad to order one but just trying to make sure that is the problem first if you happen to know.

Update - I installed the Y adaptor and the bluetooth does work! Sound quality is great. The only downside seems to be the volume level using this device is maybe 1/2 of sound volume compared to the old tape adaptor I was using. Cranked to max is fairly loud and will suffice most of the time as needed I suppose. Is this also your experience?

I have the USA Spec BT45TOY (from Amazon) in both my '03 LX470 and '05LS430. So far had them for about 2 yrs, very happy! Sound quality is quite good. The LX required an adapter than I got from Crutchfield.

Good to hear you have it working. I do have maybe a slight reduction in volume compared to a strong fm signal or CD, but it's not a big difference at all. I have noticed that Bluetooth volume on my phone always has to be turned up through the phone with this device so just double check that.

Yes, confirmed on that. Thanks. I have not adjusted the EQ in my iPhone or truck yet so maybe I can get a little more volume when I have time to play around with some other settings. On a side note, I once had a BT that worked off the FM radio and remember the volume was considerably less on that as well.

No, my volume is unaffected. Maybe need to turn it up on the phone side?

Ok, interesting. The phone vol is max. I have not plugged in the ext mic on the bluetooth controller so I might try that to see if that changes anything.

I didn't install the mic on mine so unfortunately it won't likely make a difference

I plugged this BT device into a FM modulator that was already installed for the DVD player I never use.

Install for the modulator is pretty straightforward- FM modulator install

You have to play with the volume on your phone to get it right, but it sounds perfect when you do. I made an automation to automatically start Spotify when the BT device connects so music starts playing about 2 seconds after starting the car without me having to do anything. The only thing you don't get is hands free talking, but if I NEED to talk while driving I just put an airpod in, but that might be once a year for me.

That looks like a nice device and already setup for 12v.

I had a LS400 years back and I did a modification to tap into the audio signal for the CD changer to add an aux cable. You still had to have a CD in the changer so it would stay on the input but it worked perfectly. I wonder if this could be done on the the 100 series for a direct type of connection rather than FM.

Update on my low volume issue. Did some digging around and saw someone post about a similar problem. Apparently the OEM bluetooth phone system can cause this problem if the volume is turned down for calling. So I paired my iPhone and started a call. Sure enough the volume was set to about 50% so I adjusted it up to max. The only way I know to access this feature is while making a call. It greatly increased my volume output to the stereo but not quite as loud as the tape adaptor. Close enough for me.

I'm planning to use it for calling too, I'd love to hear where people have routed their hands-free mic cable, and where they clipped it to? I'm thinking that it makes sense to run it behind the A pillar upholstered windscreen trim, but I'm wondering about the route people have placed the wire to get it there.

I ran mine behind and just above the black trim piece below the speedo. I just got a new mic and hope it works better than the cheapo one provided.

Just hooked mine up, very easy worked instantly with no “Y” connector. My CD changer never really worked but I had to load one CD in the magazine and choose #1 disc to get it to work. The BTA sits nicely in a slot between the Nav and Tape deck. Sound is great.

The handsfree mic works well too. I ran the wire through the corner of the instrument panel.
