It's amazing how unlucky I am right now.

Normally I have luck on my side. THe tranny I picked up yesterday had a crack that R.K and myself failed to see when we both looked at it. Also it has a lot of carbage inside that I did see also on inspection. Two teeth are trashed and big gouges in the housing. SOmething I wasn't able to see until disassembly. But no matter I got the welder down the street to weld the crack (I'll post pic sometime tomorrow) and I used the inside of mine which were fine to put it back together within tollerances. I am now a pro at rebuilding Lancruiser transfer cases. I've got disassebly and reassmbly to a scirnce.

Tomorrow I put transfer case back on for the last time.

I think your Cruiser is just testing your resolve, but after you get all of her issues worked out, she will reward you with faithful service!!

Corny, I know, just trying to offer support, and at least you can always be the "transfer case" guy at local wrenching parties!

Back in action!

So far no leaks and no big bangs.. Had to drop the rear bell housing mounts and lower the trans but it's in. It's so much smoother than before with no vibrations... Locker tomorrow and I'm done for a while. Even got the eletrical straightened out.

That could be a serious possibility. I think they are very similar to a 40. Get me some more info on it or if I see you tomorrow I can look at it. I'm willing to try anything that I can learn from.
