how do islanders think a mainland based club could better suit wheelers on the island?
i for one (well two i guess, my wife feels the same) think that if there is enough interest amongst islanders to start an island based TLCA chapter, would it not make sense to have it based here, and not vancouver. i don't want to feel like anyone's red headed step-child.
as my oceanic and tuberous friend has stated "you couldn't expect islanders to have to go to the mainland for anything". a phone call is long distance from here. you can only get to van by ferry (if you want to take your truck) from 7am till 9pm if the damn things are on time, or you don't have to wait 5 hours for the next one, and you've got the extra $$$ to get there and still it's an hours drive to vancouver.
it's my hope that there will be enough interest here to start a club locally, with local members and local trail knowlage and connections. if you want to join coastal crusiers, it seems like they would be more than happy to accept members from the island. why complicate the issue?
i'm sure coastal cruisers is a great club, i regularly see members on this board and others, they seem like nice folks, but i have no interest in joining CC. i just can't see the value when i live in victoria.
