Let me start off by saying this is my first post on the forum and this is also my first land cruiser I just picked up this 1994 Land Cruiser with the 4.5 1fz-fe, I absolutely love this thing but she does have 290,000 miles on the engine so I have been going through and fixing things as I find them I’ve recently been hearing a horrid sound from what I think is my secondary air injection system but I can’t seem to find any info or parts online for it. Now I could just be dumb here and be thinking something is something else but if any of yall would happen to know what this part is that would be a great help

It’s called a PAIR valve, Pulse Secondary Air Injection. It’s a long discontinued part and be easily deleted with no ill affects. You can block off the two ports on the exhaust manifold with plates or move your O2 sensors to that location.

Nothing to be gained by disconnecting, unless it's malfunctioning. It helps in warming up the oxygen sensors and catalytic converter, also helps reduce emissions. Does not rob your engine of horsepowers.

Some potential benefits of removal are 1) ability to relocate the O2 sensors to the exhaust manifold, 2) reducing failure points, 3) tidying the engine bay - improving access to other components, and 4) eliminating no longer available parts from the system.
