Good evening everyone,

I'm normally over in the 40 section but with a babe on the way I'm thinking of adding another LC to the family.

So I'm looking for a little help from the experts on what these things are worth.

Is something like this a deal

2000 Toyota Land Cruiser

Thanks Josh

looks to be in good shape. Make sure the timing belt and tensioners etc. were done with the water pump. I would like to know if the pump failed and if there was an overheat. Other than that stuff blue book is likely around 5-6k without looking it up but, nice clean rigs with records and interiors that look as nice as that go quick for over book prices. I would check it out and hit them at book value and work up. Nothing wrong with paying a premium for a no rust, clean maintained never off road 100. If I really wanted it 7k would be my top that is over excellent kbb private value by 1k.

Rust free cruisers in VA are hard to find so they are pricey. Mines from TX so no rust and I've been thinking about selling it although if I ever wanted another one like mine it would be hard to find.

Good deal is only there if seller is willing to negotiate. I believe it is a couple grand high for the price, but if TB/WP is done twice I would consider that $1k in its favor. A year ago I bought an '02 with 135K miles for $10,900. I did not feel like I got a good deal only a fair deal.

One thing to consider with a baby on the way is the 2001 models come with the car seat anchors. I personally like that option much more than just the standard seat belt to hold a car seat. It makes it much easier and faster to swap your child seat between vehicles. Our family battle wagon is a 2000 LC and I have been on the hunt for the middle seats from an +01 truck, especially now that the misses is talking about adding a second car seat.

As far as the rig your looking at, my opinion is it seems a little pricy for the mileage. It looks clean, and service records a an added bonus but I think you could find a similar truck with less miles for the same price.

Good Luck!

Condition is everything, if properly maintained its a good price.

A 100 series not up on all maintenance or maintained improperly will run up shop time $$.

Note: River Mica (Gary) had some paint issues, inspect closely.

What are these paint issues you speak of? Just curious bc I haven't ever heard anything and my river rock mica paint looks great. Do I need to be slapping extra wax on her every month?

I've seen reports of excess fading on top (hood & roof). The 00 LX470 Gray (Graybear) I had this summer, had this issue. I doubt it was ever waxed before I did it. If properly cared for I doubt it's and issue.

No fading on mine, but I also assume it was garaged by the previous owner. I unfortunately have one tiny spot of clear coat peeling at one of the roof rack bases. But good info to know, I'll definitely make sure I keep up with my waxing routine though!

Thanks for all the reply's, I'm going to contact the guy and see if he is willing to come down on the price any.

You can check out the factory service history by registering at the toyota owners site and adding the VIN. Also, if you have an ebay account you can "sell" the vehicle at no cost to view the equivalent of a Carfax. That price seems a bit high. But I am in NM too...

I work for a Toyota dealer so I'm going to run it though our system after I talk with the guy.

Guys with carfax is that a free system you can use to check cars history .I have tryed lexus owners is there anything else. Thanks

That is a couple of hundred less than I paid for a 98 with 160,000 miles. I think it is a fair price. I have that same Kenwood, too and it is a damn pricey unit but works nice. Mine is river rock mica and the paint is fine. AZ sun, too.

I paid $7400 for a nice 98, locked, rust free, one owner at the toyota dealer...I had to do the timing belt/water pump/tensioners, tires, shocks and replace the muffler. I did the fluids too, although they didn't need it. All in, under $10k. I am happy with the purchase! I am however not ashamed to over pay for the right cruiser!
