Is this 97 LC worth US$15,500?

It is a Collector Edition with fairly low mileage. The woodgrain is aftermarket and I do not see a difflock rotary switch. If you do not care about difflocks it looks like it is a fairly nice rig. It may be a bit high at 15.5k especially since it does not have diff locks.

no locker switch that I could see. Forgot the code for them but IIRC 292 is w/o. To check.
Looks in good shape.
$16K is not such a bad price from what I saw out here West for this mileage. Although you should expect ebay to be less than local sales. So sorta OK price wise but not an amazing deal. And not unreasonably high either.
If you have looked hard locally and you could not find one, seems like a reasonable deal, assuming it checks OK.

Eric is correct, the axle code for non-lockers is K292. The code for lockers is K294 (info is located on the DS door jamb info plate).

Looks really nice and low mileage (bonus). I'd have the seller send more pics, such as of the interior, etc. I think the $15,500 is the 'buy it now' price, so they may let it go for less, but not much less. Hard to tell about what the reserve is set to. If you're really interested, you might also ask them send it to an independent shop for evaluation if they'd consider it, assuming you'll bid sight unseen or if you know anyone in the area they could take a look for you. Good luck!

if it had lockers, was a southern vehicle it entire life (check carfax), and you could thoroughly look it over and it was in good condition mechanically and aesthetically, I would get it, I saw several after market wood kits when I was looking at cruisers a couple with that particular kit and it is the worst looking,

everybody should want lockers, even if you do not plan to use them, at some point you may need or want them, especially if you plan to sell it, right now lockers do not add more to the price, it just takes longer to find the cream puff with lockers, I think as they age the ones with lockers will fetch a much higher price

trust me I am stuck with a 2wd Silverado when everybody wants 4wd :( I knew that when I bought it but thought I would keep it for long time, now it looks like I will but not by choice

If it had lockers etc, I would still not pay that much for one. Don't get so antsie-pantsie about it and you'll find the right one. If you rush, you'll end up over paying and regret it for a long time.

Since you people are talking about Cruisers on ebay, which is rather odd. I just saw one on ebay that was a 40th anniversary, lifted, 315's, supercharged, and just under 100K miles. He has a different hood on it witht a scoop, looks kinda cool. He says he has 6" of lift, I don't think he knows what he is talking about. Maybe tires + lift = 6". Then he has all this useless crap on there. Its at $14.4K (reserve not yet met). Not bad. Check it out: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6443&item=2480562074&rd=1

With 3" of lift and 285s my truck sits at 6'8". I am unsure how this guy manages 6" of lift on 285s and only gets to 6'7".

WTF? The scoop isn't functional (and looks retarded)? $1200 plus install on the OME lift? MB S-class horns? ::)

i'm in the wash dc/metro area....might want to check out autotrader or cars.com...see quite a few in the Northern VA area at dealerships (springfield toyota, miller toyota) that are quite high, but wait a few months and prices will drop....saw some 95-96 LC w/100k miles for $13-14k....towards the middle of the summer to Sept.....

>> It has 2003 Factory Toyota 17" rims <<

That eBay 40th says it has these rims? Aren't all the 100 series wheels 5 lug?

Here's a few that i saw on cars.com today in the wash dc area:20165 zipcode

102k miles $10,866 for 94 LC Green
117k miles $10,900 94 LC White

30mm doesn't seem like a lot but the 4Runner/GX470 wheels definitely sit deeper inside the wheel well versus the stock alloys. It's a noticeable difference. From the pics, I'd guess that they're running some spacers on those to push the wheels out a bit. I believe they're 17 x 7.5 as well.

Thanks for the replies. :)
After a considerable amount of dwelling, I've decided to be
little more patient and wait for the one with diff lock. I will
take all your suggested information toward buying one.
Thanks again.

If you are in VA, check out www.airportmotors.com. They are in Charlottesville and specialize in 4Runners and Land Cruisers (they say they go to auctions and such looking specifically for them and sell about 200 4Runners/yr and about 75 LCs/yr). No promises on what they have, but they do get stuff in all the time. Talk to John and tell him Scott in Richmond (just bought a 97 from him) sent you.

Good luck!
