My truck always drops RPM when doing hard steering to full lock. I remember in my older Toyota's there was a vacuum actuated system that would "idle up" the engine when you turned the steering wheel at idle. Is there something on the 1FZ-FE ? Is there anything to check or adjust so that this doesn't happen?

There is not a steering idle change device, other than the ECU controls the idle, somewhat compensates for load.

Hmm, so it sounds like it might be a power steering pump/fluid issue... Something is requiring more energy than it is supposed to be...

Put stock tires on it and the "problem" will likely go away!:hillbilly:
I push the skinny pedal slightly when maneuvering in tight places.

Why, THAT ain't NOTHIN! I use BOTH pedals at the same time for tight maneuvering. It don't beat up my LCA brackets so much that way?!

... hard steering to full lock....
Maybe I am babying my vehicles but I try to avoid staying at full lock and damn sure don't crank down hard on the wheel once it is there.

Well yeah, I avoid it at all costs, but it happens several times every outing on a trail where I have to turn the wheel to full lock, usually going very slow, with my foot off the accelerator (think going down a rocky or rutted slope).

Then daily, I need to pull into a very tight parking garage which requires me to go to full lock to get into the spot without backing up and re-aligning.

To me full lock and foot off the accelerator together is a pretty common occurrence.
