I have been researching timing belt replacement stuff for a while now since I have been wanting to replace it myself for the satisfaction. The write-ups and picture shots in the FAQ are very helpful but it's still hard to imagine the entire process without a video. Today I stumbled across a nice high quality video on Youtube illustrating the procedure on a Toyota 2002 Tundra V8. I am wondering if this engine is the same or very similar to the 2000 Land Cruiser. Looking at his 45 minute video I can see a lot of similarities between the Tundra and LC V8s. However, I haven't really taken my front apart yet so I'm not completely sure.:hmm:

I guess even if it's not exactly the same it made me understand how the front Toyota V8 is built. Can't believe the vids only have 8k views so far as they've been on Youtube for a while now.

During the vids, I saw him remove stuff like the idlers, tensioners, seals, and water pumps and I feel that I can also install new ones myself during those re-installation steps. (as I have yet to do my 90k maint)

Land Cruisers V8 is built in Japan.
Tundras V8 is built in America.

I have heard the internals are better on the Japanese built V8, but can't confirm. I am sure Onur knows.

I have swapped a few Tundra V8s into 100 series Land Cruisers and can confirm that they are the same in most every aspect. It has been a few years, but I remember the differences (as far as you are concerned) are limited to external parts like oil pan, power steering pump, exhaust manifolds and intake manifold (or maybe just the throttle body) as the Tundra engines I've swapped are drive by wire where the LC was cable throttle.

Thanks forrest, glad to hear that.
