Pulled the rear axles on my 60 as part of an ARB install. I'd set the long shaft sitting upright on the wheel studs and noticed what, visually at least, appeard to be a "bend" in the shaft. A straight edge on the cast, non-machined portion verified a misalignment. But I have no way of verifying if the bearing race surface and splined portion are out of phase. Absolutely no evidence of damage or unusual wear anywhere. Shaft pulled right out, no binding, etc.

Anyone have any insight, or do I need to see s shrink? ???

Better the axle shaft than the housing.

The best way to check it is to turn it between centers (In a lathe, etc) and indiate the run out in the middle with a dial indicator. Anything less than .050 run out (and probably much more) will be OK.

If it has been that way for a long time it will probably be OK for much longer.
