are you close by where it is located? if not I'd find someone close by there in a local club to look it over. 2 things don't look right, the return heater hose along the valve cover and the pic of the driver rear wheel looks like some rust bubbling thru by the mudflap.

Too expensive!
Seats are not correct upholstery. At least in the back. That color is not a winner for resale at that price.
Looks clean

Cheers!

No I'm not close, i'm in Southwest Missouri. I had plans to have it inspected at a local garage before the transaction took place, I'll check this forum to see if someone close by and knowledgeable could stop in and check it out. I hadn't thought of that.

I'll ask for a closer picture of the bubbling, I saw that last night as well.

Thanks for the input, your correct that the upholstery is incorrect apparently it was the "Closest they could find in 2005". It's very nice, but not correct.

As for the color, it's one of my top two choices actually so that doesn't bother me as much!

If you buy it, please trash the dash pad and center console. With a repaint (and I like the color) the concern is that covered up rust will re appear. Maybe there isn't any hidden rust, but you're taking a chance. In any case, 10k is too high IMO.

Of course, the dash pad and console must go.

If 10K if to high, what's a reasonable offer? $8000K - $9000K ?

The court of public opinion says it's too high - it's been on CL for 25 days, and no one has bitten yet.

It all depends on what your goals are: if you want a perfectly preserved 60 that's the finest in the country, you're a month too late. Dogboy sold his Wookie last month for $22k. THAT was an impressive rig that I could not afford.

If, however, you're trying to get a rig that has as much right as possible and will be a good DD/mild adventure rig that you don't want to immediately dump a bunch of $ into, this one might not be so bad. The bubbling paint at the wheelwell does predict hidden badness.

To consider your price: Find how much it will cost to fix every problem you can't live with, and subtract it from the asking cost. Wooden console has to go? Tuffy console, $250. Bad upholstery, $500 and up.

In the plus category: Low miles, good body/paint (we think), paint color you like.

Ask the owner to skype with you on a good internet connection. This can give you a lot of information in a short amount of time.

Look it over and open with $8k. See where it goes.

And if it doesn't pan out, I may be interested in selling my '86. Same color, zero rust, perfect interior, stock everything else, 203k on untouched 2f.

Sound logic and really this is why I came here, to get proper information from the enthusiasts.

I don't want/need a rig that 100% original and perfect, but I do want one that will be reliable and clean. (which apart from the bubble, is what this one seems to be) I have a tiny commute everyday, and I live in what most people would consider the country. The biggest issue with this rig is that I don't believe she's going to come off on the price she flat out said it's $10,000 don't bother offering anything else. Now I've never paid full asking price for any vehicle let alone a 30 year old rig, so it might not happen on that merit alone.

Bottombracket, If you're interested in selling, let me know I'm obviously in the Market for a clean rig and I could easily fly to Austin and make that drive home.
