I'm looking to get a set of winter wheels and was wondering if anyone was running the new taco or 4runner rims. I love some of the styles and they are considerably cheaper than a new set. I know the offsets are different and don't want to buy some that wont fit. Pics would be great. Thanks

I was running 2010 Tacoma rims for a while with no problem. I had 265/70/16's on them and had no rub or issues at all. The offset is a little short, meaning that they tuck under the fenders a little too far for some folks, but I thought they looked fine.

I had the TRD wheels and I believe they are still using that same wheel on current TRD trucks.

They have a lot more backspacing than the stock wheels on our 80s, so they will look like they are an inch or an inch and a half "in-boarded" on each side. I tried some 17" TRD sport wheels on my 3rd gen 4runner and they needed a lot of spacer to fit roughly where to stock ones fit. On the 80, I put up a set of 16" TRD Tundra/Tacoma wheels (5-spoke) and they looked really goofy and narrow. I decided to un mount the tires and swap onto the stock wheels rather than have the truck bobbling around on a skinny track.

I knew the newer ones had a more positive offset. Is there a rim any one knows of that is closer to the cruiser backspacing.

These are the FJ Cruiser and 4Runner 4 holes. I am not overly crazy about the color. For some reason they just look photoshopped on my truck. However I did see a set coated black last week that actually looked good. They are a huge improvement from the 15" wheels my truck came with.

If you do a little searching you'll find out the OE wheel for 93+ is 16x8 with 0mm inset.
Its also cast into the wheel itself for regulation requirements.

What size of tires are you trying to run? The real issue isn't so much from brake interference(unless you're trying to use a 15" rim), its more from trying to put a larger diameter, wider tire.

Do a search and see what comes up. There is a whole forum for Tires/wheels also...

I have some newer TRD wheels and 285's on my 80 series. The truck is de-flared so they tuck in nicely. No problems with rubbing or anything. Still drives and handles OK. Search some more, there's old threads to be found with more pics and debate about suspension/ steering geometry if you're interested. My personal experience, they work great.

Not taco or 4R but Tundra 18" TRD/BBS 10ET. Perfect fit, but had to bore the center out.

I almost bought a set off the local facebook yardsale page, but the guy wanted 450$ and spacers were 200$ so I am just going to get a set of oem wheels and have them powdercoated, I like that idea better than spacers anyhow.
