I spoke with John at Metal Tech 4x4 who is the importer for the Ironman suspension system. I was a bit baffled by this discussion as I have run an Icon suspension system on my FJ Cruiser for years. John has years of experience as a mechanic and provided insight about this coilover setup. It does not come as built unit in the way that many systems such as Icon, Radflo and others come. Rather it has to be assembled by the installer.
John said that the springs have to be oriented at the bottom and top correctly when put together and that the right spring must be rotated 180° to the left spring during assembly. He reported that he has built countless coilovers for years, a few decades actually, and that even from time to time he will goof it up. If the springs are not rotated and seated properly the alignment problem will occur. John reported that he spoke with the folks at Camelback Toyota yesterday to resolve the situation.
I ordered this suspension last week for my new LC200 and it will soon arrive. For obvious reasons, this discussion was cause for concern. John said that when the time comes that I must have my mechanic call him before and during the assembly to make sure that it is put together correctly, before installing it on the LC. I hope that clears up the situation which was confusing to me. John can be reached at Metal Tech 4x4.
