The winch mounts to the subframe and the bumper goes over it.

Ironman bumpers

I like the Ironman bumpers. We've always sold ARB bumpers, and I have them on 2 of my own vehicles right now, as well as many in the past. But after having a half dozen or so myself, I'd be up for a change the next go-around. We are now an Ironman dealer as well, we'll be installing their 4" kit and the "protector bar" on an 80 series next week. I'll be sure to post some pics.

ringpinion.biz, since you've had experience with ARB and now can compare the two side by side, can you make comparisons for us? Thickness of metal, weld quality, reinforcement welds, coating/paint quality, etc? Does it come with the turn signal lights included, or is that an option? Are those plug and play, or is there a bit of wiring involved? Which would you rather not get hit by? :-)

Just checking in from Florida:).

Costco just called to say my tires are in, KM2 315's.

As for some of the above questions, In the Ironman the lights are included but the wiring is not plug and play, You have to splice into the turn and marker lights.

Instalation was very simple and you just need a helper to lift the bumper while you inser the bolts, the rest can be done by just 1 man.

I would also like to know the diference between the ARB and Ironman Materials. I did Notice that the ironman has a crumple zone in thesub assembly right were the bumper contacts. I guess this is for air bag compatability, even though I dont have airbags.

Well, Im back to my vacationing...:D

I installed the KM2 315 and I'm verry happy with the results.

They will rub in front with little effort offroad, but if you stay within roads they will perfrom very well with stock lift and a bumper.

The Ironman 4" Lift has been shipped to my local vendor, I'm just waiting on delivery, probably tuesday.:bounce::bounce2::bounce:

You will see the difference! If you get the choice between caster plates and offset bushings, go for the plates.

Still looking for that comparison! Seems I read that the Ironman has crumple zones built into it. Have not read that about the ARB. Seems like that would semi-negate the whole reason for armoring up?

Means if the wing of the bumper gets hit it will collapse. NOT good IMHO for what I want.

This has been discussed in this forum before, but to summarize, crumple zones are specifically designed in things to absorb the shock of hitting something. Bumpers need to crumple or the shock will be transferred into the frame and that's bad because it could then bend. A bent bumper is better than a bent frame.

Here's what I meant by crumple zone.

It's in sub-assembly area, right where it connectsto the bumper.

It's made of heavier guage metal but it has holes drilled into it.

I guess this area absorbs some impact on heavy/hard head on collisions. The material is extremely heavy guage.

Nowhere in the specs or bumper details does it specify crumple zone, other than stating that the bumper is Air Bag compatible, maybe this is what makes it air bag compatible.

It looks in that picture that bumper offers a lot less aproach angle than the ARB. Judging by the space between the A/C dryer and bumper and the amount hanging below the frame.

Yeah, you're right warp. I suppose I'd rather bend the 1K bumper (ouch) than the frame. I was just thinking that the point of the ARB being touted so much seemed to be that it protects you from damaging lights, front quarter panels, etc. in a fender bender. I suppose the Ironman's toughness could still be there, just not giving until a major impact.

Guys
I installed the 4 in lift of Iron man a few months ago and it works great!!
the installation is ok.
I can say that the truck is driving very well on road and I got great clearance for offroad.
so bottom line - very recommended.
Eli from Camel is a great guy and he will really try to do everything to keep you happy
