iPhone 6 Plus dash install (1 Viewer)

I have a volume knob on my setup. It's a remote knob for the Matrix Audio Controller. It's in the upper right corner of my dash. The audio controller lives in the glove box. There isn't enough room behind the dash for it.

Oh yea, I forgot you had the one with remote, that is a better option. And since you aren't doing these anymore I guess the three switch swap is just a suggestion for anyone else attempting this. After looking at different options I think the tablet is the easiest. Carputer/Pi/BB all have more potential with complex programming and fun little tricks built, but for simplicity, this is it.

So I have the iPhone 6 Plus in my possession finally and I've finalized the double din insert for it. The 91-94 and 95-97 radio bezel opening vary slightly so I had to make two different models. I'm using a back plate and 3 screws to hold the iPhone mount in place. Rock solid no rattles or vibrations.

1. I can do this without needing to hack up a dash. It can be removed and the dash goes right back to normal.

2. I now have one device that handles in car media, navigation, communication. I can pop it out of the dash, throw it in my pocket.

3. The screen size is barely smaller than most double din touch screen car stereos but the quality of the screen image, capacitive touch and the UI make for a much nicer experience.

I know a lot of people think these large phones are silly but I think you shouldn't be looking at it as a phone. Sure it makes phone calls but it's way more than that. It's a camera (and a really good one at that), media player, video game console, personal calendar, email, text, web browser, navigation tool, calculator, ballistics calculator, library storing 100's of books, police scanner, I have the FSM for my 93 and 04 Land Cruisers loaded on it.

My dash ready to go. Used hot glue to hold lightning connector. Also covered screws and glued excess cord to the back of mounting plate. Ashtray charger and lower button spots are from a 95-97 dash. I wanted bigger ashtray space for CB or Ham radio.b Going to go install once I finish watching the Cardinals game.

It's in and works like a champ.

Hard to see in this photo but the ashtray section is from a 95-97 dash so I can run a cb/ham radio. The rear heat button won't push in all the way, something is blocking in the back so need to pull everything back out and figure it out. I'm getting really good at disconnecting all of these buttons.
