My name is Pam and I live in Nebraska. I have had my FJ40 for about 10 years, but it has been a state of disassembled since I bought it. I have just now really gotten the itch to get it up and running. It came with no drivetrain so I am currently aquiring parts. I have a 4 cyl Perkins diesel (got it in parents divorce) that I am going to put into it. I have purchased the adaptors to mate it to a TF727 and a Dana 300. I rebuilt the water pump this weekend and the starter. I have a long ways to go, but this is a start.

Nice to see other Cruiser women out there.

sweet...still kickass to see so many women wheelers!!!

pam, where in nebraska? close enough to colorado to make the rising sun rally in august?

for that matter, how many women will be at the rising sun rally in august? i know the romer daughter's will be there...at least they better be;).

will there be enough to have a womens section?

I live smack dab in the middle of Nebaska along I-80 a little town called Cozad. I will not be making the rising sun rally. Unfortunatley the Cruiser will be no where close to operational by then. Plus we have a big J**p run in the middle of July in Ouray, so that will pretty much tap traveling funds for the summer. I am hoping to have it up and operational by next summer and make some of the Cruiser events. I try and make one Tornado Alley Cruiser event every year, but haven't been able to that lately either.

Someday we need to have a women's only Cruiser weekend!!!!

BTW what, where, and when is the Rising Sun Rally?

Thanks for that info as I will be back in CO by then:bounce::bounce2:

I am back in CO now, 80 made it one piece :D

I bought my first 80 about 3 years ago, my then 18 year old son promptly crashed it. I had got it because it was a Toyota and it met the seating requirements. I grew to like it a lot in a short time and when it came time to finding the replacement for the crashed one, nothing else I looked at even remotely struck me as something I wanted. I found my current 1996 80 on eBay and never looked back- I love it!

My dream LC is a 40. Someday. I don't do a lot of work on my own vehicles but I have a pretty good base of info to build on and look forward to fixing things as they come up on my own. I will certainly look forward to meeting more MUD members once I am stateside as I have not been disappointed yet!!

Hi.
Tina from Greenville, NC. I have a slightly modified FJ Cruiser and love taking it out.

Hi All,

My name is Dianne and I live in Austin, Texas. I drive/own a beautiful, Freeborn Red, 1973 FJ40. I have wanted an FJ40 since I was 16 (and that was a long, long time ago in 1982 to be exact). I bought "Big Red" in April and I love it. I am learning how to take care of it. I have some great "FJ40 Brothers" here in Austin, helping me understand FJ40 LandCruisers. This afternoon, I just swapped out my tires and wheels (which were really big; don't know the size) to a much more smaller size of tires and wheels. Since I have no p/s, the new wheels make a huge difference. I am trying to keep my rig OEM. I am spending my of my savings on Big Red and it is so much fun (thank goodness for automatic 401k deductions).

I am so glad to know that other women are into LandCruisers. I thought I was an odd-ball. I love when guys ask me if my FJ40 is my husband's truck. I laugh and say no, it's mine. I love the reactions.

Thanks for starting this thread!

I am planning to attend as many events as possible. Bring it on!

I would like to express my hesitancy at responding:

despite having lived in the US for 19 years now, I just cannot get used to calling a grown women 'girl' - particularly when I am straight going onto 50 ;p

so now that political correctness is out of the way:

My truck's features are listed in my signature, I've had it for 2.5 years now and I love to wheel.

I just recently moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, but the truck lives in Arizona - I mentioned wheeling, didn't I :D

'85Colleen

Hi. I'm Colleen and I have an '85 FJ60. I live in Florida but I'm moving to Michigan the end of next month. I've joined this to talk about the trip and see what advise I can get before I head out. I've been poking around and found a lot of suggestions but I was wondering if any of you girls have gone cross country and would like to share your experience with me - how it went, troubles, repairs, cost and anything else you might think of. Thanks!

What part of Michigan are you moving to Colleen? I'm up in the northern most part of the lower penninsula for the summer. I've taken my HJ across the country twice now and can't really say that I ran into any real problems.....minor things here and there....but never anything serious.

Hey ladies,

I'm Terry from So. CA and can't really claim to be an off-roader, except on my dirt bike. But I do love my near-cherry, '91 Toy SR5 4x4. I got it about 5 years go and spent over 6 months looking for it. (Those A/Ts are hard to come by too!) It's my Tonka. It's lifted & regeared with 31"ers, done by the previous owner who treated it like a favored son. ;-) There's not a single time I don't look at it and say to myself, "Man, that's a good-lookin' truck!" I love driving it and call it Paws cause the big tires makes it look like it has to grow into its feet.

IAC I came here because Paws is having a small problem. I'll wander over to the appropriate forum to ask some advice of you capable ladies (and men).

Wow, lots of women on the board!

This is a great thread! I'm Dianna, I have a '77 FJ40 (along with a '94 Toyota pickup, an '01 4Runner and a '95 Celica!). I've had my 40 for about 5 years and have done a lot of improvements to it during that time including stripping the interior down to bare metal and painting with POR15 before Herculining the tub, installing a new distributor/igniter, lining my gas tank, among lots of other stuff! I bought a FSM and a Haynes manual, between those and this awesome forum I am able to access all of the information I need to fix whatever needs fixin! I have always wanted an FJ40 from as long ago as I can remember, there was a gas station when I was little that had one parked in front of the building and I always knew I would have one. When I was finally financially able to afford one then the difficulty came in finding one in Northeastern Ohio (they are VERY scarce here!) I found one in Oklahoma and had it shipped here to Ohio and the fun began! :bounce2:

It's about time!
I have an '89 FJ62 with 133,000 mi. Ever since driving a friend's FJ 40 in high school (80's), I've wanted to own a Landcruiser. ILove being part of the elite club.

If any of you travel through the great NW, let me know!

Hi there,
My name is Teresa but most people know me as Tree. My daily driver is a 1994 FZJ 80 with stuff. Right now it has a 2.5 inch OME setup, but soon will have a Frankie Off Road set up. She has approx 211,000 miles on her. At Cruise Moab(2006) I drove the Kane Creek Canyon trail which I have included some pics. This truck is the best!!!! My other fun is my Polaris Outlaw 500 quad. Its great to see this addition to the forum.

Hey! I'm Shar... I currently live in Mobeeeel, Alabama; I made it here by way of Denver (hometown), Frankfurt Germany (childhood home), Macon Georgia (college home), & Atlanta Georgia (party home). Just bought a 1976 FJ40 and love it! Col. Mustard gets a lot of looks and I've already had two offers to buy him off me! "Uhhhh... no thanks... not now..." I'm only his 3rd owner and the original gentleman had him until 2004... ordered him back in 1976 and paid $6800, brand new... I have all the receipts! I'm psyched I found this site... the information seems ENDLESS!

I'll second what a lot of ladies have said: glad we're here! I took my FJ to a company picnic and a young-outdoorsy guy asked me if I knew who's Landcruiser that was parked out front; when I replied: "... mine..." He gave me a very puzzled look and stammered: "... no, no... the Landcruiser. Who's is it?" So, once again I replied: "... mine..." Realizing the error in BOTH of his questions he blushed and apologized for being presumptuous. Silly boy! :)

Happy Friday everybody!
