Happy Fathers Day

I'm going into my 4th week with my new-to-me Land Cruiser.
I've been in F150's for a while and after recently spending an amount I never thought I'd spend on a truck it turned out to be less than reliable. It was a '23 F150 PowerBoost Hybrid. Engine was great but all the tech was buggy and the hybrid system was a bit of a let down and slowly came to the decision to part ways with it and began my search for an LC/570.
Initially was leaning more towards the 570 for it's added features.
Had a couple good candidates slip through my fingers and broadened my search but was really waiting for my truck to sell, which was beginning to look like it was going to take forever.

After several weeks a 2017 LC came up at a dealer near me and I was able to work a fair deal on trading my truck for it and drove it home.

It's in very good condition but was showing some signs of age. It had a bad PPF bra installation that was aging badly and in need of getting that removed and a clay bar/polish.
Also detailed the interior a bit.

Future Plans:
I've also noticed that the previous owner must've cleaned the windshield with a brillo pad because it is full of micro scratches and swirls. I'm going to try and buff that out.
I also need to have the tint replaced on two front door windows, it's aged and pitted. If I can get the windsheild corrected I'll get a tint strip across the front.

Other than that, I'm going down the rabbit hole of picking wheels and tires and trying to determine what (if any) kind of lift or suspension work I want to do. Have looked at Dobinson's a ton recently.

I'll end for now with a recent pic. Will update with more posts of progress pics so far.
Thanks for reading

After getting all that PPF and glue remnants off I gave it a good wash and pulled it in the garage again for Clay Bar, Polish, and a 2 layer Ceramic Coating. Took 2 1/2 days to get it done.

Forgot to include a pic of the interior. It's got the beautiful terra brown leather.

Well done, love seeing cars get a new lease on life with an owner that truly cares and is ready to put in some elbow grease.

Beautiful color combination, welcome to the asylum club!

Appreciate it!

I have the same problem with the PPF on my ‘17. Just this afternoon I was contemplating how to remove it. What did you do and what removed the glue?

I’m astounded at how good yours looks. What brands of clay bar, polish, and ceramic coating did you use.

Get some Lexol on the steering wheel and front seats ASAP.

Nice job!

Thanks, appreciate the complement.

I used a hair dryer to heat up the ppf and pull it off. The smaller pieces were easy but the big hood bra one took a while.

The glue was honestly the hard part. I first tried goo-gone but it wasn't really helping and then I used an eraser wheel (Amazon.com - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08CPPMCJG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
This was the right move and it's what they're designed for. I first tried a small area, removed the glue and the wheel left some traces on the paint. I then used my buffer and polished those out to ensure the process was working and the test section looked great. I then just continued to eraser-wheel the whole area where there was glue. It took forever, doing little sections at a time. I think it was due to the age of the ppf and baking in the sun for many years.

I just looked up Lexol, I'll pick some up.

I am going to have to have the wheel leather redone, or may just get a new wheel. I've looked up the replacements here on the forum and they look good but I would like to keep the steering wheel heat if possible. Still on the fence as to which route to go.

Glad you got rid of the POS ford.

our ford fanboi troll will come soon enough and post the same drivel for 4 years about how it can charge his house

nice LC . White is best. Do the Bilstein suspension then thank me in your wet dreams

Haha, I'll look up the Bilsteins. Ironically, they're popular on F150's as well.
And just to be clear, I'm not an F150 hater nor evangelist. I've had primarily good experiences with them.

How much of the front has the ppf? Is it just the painted parts, or is there are some on the chrome and lights?

I ask because I don’t believe my LC got the full treatment. There isn’t any on the mirrors and the only obvious area covered is the hood.

About 1/3 of the hood, the side part of the front bumper cover, and the side mirrors.
I think the ppf on the main painted part of the bumper had already been removed.
None of it was on the chrome/lights.
