Introduction.. my first new cruiser!

I know my plan was to drive it stock for at least 3 years... I made it 3 months

haha don't say that!! I have to keep it business and stock. I "think" for a long time. I have my 80 series that is always a work in progress, and then there is the 40 which as we all know is a constant work in progress...

It's even tougher to resist performing at least a few tweaks to the 200. The nice thing about it is that we have the availability of some factory parts upgrades that don't eat into the reliability or ease of daily usage. Brakes, drivetrain, and some suspension parts are notable.

Good looking rig!

Luckily Alex knows a good parts guy.

:)

Dude....missed this when I was at your house for LR. You missed a good time.

Looking forward to see the 200 in a week or so. I'll be up in your area a lot more regularly. ;)

Hahahahaha *off topic, but do you have isis as your display picture just for the sake of the cruisers

Yeah. They have great taste in trucks that they rape and pillage from conquering bases.....

And probably buying directly from Toyota Gibraltar through front companies across the world.

That's the way geo-politics works.

Learning all kinds of stuff about this truck. I guess i need to get the owners manual out.

First, i think that the cool box is cool! Except, i don't like that it requires the AC to work... with the technology we have these days why not have a real fridge that runs independent and works when the truck is off?!

Second, i "think" i found a safety feature in the cruise control... when i was cruising down the highway the other day it was raining. I had the wipers on the auto sensing function... it started to rain heavy and the wipers switched to high; as soon as they did my cruise control would shut off and it would say cruise not available. But, if i turned the wipers to regular "on" function, the cruise would work.....

Third, getting used to the rear back up camera. After a week or so you do get used to it, but at first it was very sketchy for me.

Fourth, the gas mileage is hideous!!

Fifth, the radar cruise control is the best I've seen. At least it doesn't cut off! It takes a little getting used to, but it works pretty well. What i don't like about it is if a car in from of you is exiting and it slows, that causes you to slow, as soon as it exits, the cruise floors the accelerator to catch back up to what speed it was set at.. Also if a car exits in front of you, i've noticed the radar will really lock the brakes on... i don't like that.

would be cool if the cool box would work while the car is off... Just guessing you'd have a lot of peops with dead batteries saying "who left the cool box on" F***
I've had the Radar Cruiser say unavailalbe during heavy rain and or snow storms, but never noticed it tied to the wipers, weird???
Yep, gas mileage sucks, just no way to spin that, driving a 3 ton tank...
The radar cruise could be a bit smoother, that's forsure!

What is the stalk? The only option that i see with the radar cruise is basically a three level distance adjustment, far, medium or close... but not off.

I wonder how it senses the rain level? I assumed it was from the wiper blades? I came to that conclusion by trying the sensor wipers with cruise about three times during that heavy rain period and each time they turned on high, the cruise cut off. Then in the same rain conditions, i left the wipers on plain ol' on mode and the cruise never cut out.

Stalk: Sticks out of the side of your steering wheel on both sides.

How does it do everything? Everything is done with sensors and ECUs integrated into the body ECU as well as the engine ECU.

:)

The Radar unit is the Toyota symbol on the front grille of your rig(so far as I know?), what I have noticed after the past couple of years of driving is when that unit becomes covered in snow or simply determines that there is to much of whatever(rain, snow, dirt) in the air it simply shuts down... just what I have noticed over the past couple years...

Now that it's been raining in my area for what feels like 40 days and 40 nights... i have noticed something else about the 200 vs. my 80 series.... the lack of the little gutter rail on the roof. The reason this has stuck out is because now when i open the door and it's raining, water pours into the seat. That kind of sucks. The rain gutter that the 80 has really keeps this from happening.

I'm not sure if the following issues are specific to my 200 or more common to the year or series but...

I have found the electronics to be a lot more glitchy than either my 100 or 80.

I know these things are becoming a lot more electronically dependent, but I expect (my personal expectation) that I would NOT have sporadic glitches the way that I do with the truck.

We went camping again this weekend and my center lock indicating light came on flashing again... for no reason and then went back off a day later.

The stereo is possessed. That is how I feed about it. For some reason it wants to randomly change sources on me.

I have brought both of these up to our dealer but since they are intermittent, they can not be troubleshot. I need to get the wiring diagrams for this truck...

Regarding the electronics, so far i've noticed once that my "computer" locked up... when you start the car that stupid warning screen comes on and then turns into either the backup camera or the map... once, mine just locked in black screen. It eventually turned onto the map, but it was locked for about 3 minutes.

Regarding the stereo, what i can't stand is it constantly wants to turn off once the car is off.... so for example if you have your iPod plugged in and listening to music, if you turn off the truck, get out for a while and jump back in, plug the iPod back in and start the truck... the stereo is off! Same with the satellite or radio, it will turn off. I don't like that at all.
