Where's BMan an Ol' Greg?!

Introducing myself

Hi everyone - I've just gotten a 84 FJ60, and am in process of putting back to stock, as its got a few bumps and bruises. Once I've managed to get everything on it back to square one, I may eventually do a bit more 4x4 on it, but for right now, its enough challenge for me to repair the damage the PO did to it!

Welcome tucson_sailors.

Post up pics when you get a chance.

I'll also send a PM with some good sources I've found over the last 3 yrs. for 60/62 parts.

I'm pretty new to the LC scene. Just picked up a 1974 FJ55. Body is in decent shape but the inside was nasty. I've been gutting it out trying to get it back to stock. If anybody knows a decent mechanic that knows the LC F motor and stock carb please let me know. Thanks!

Wow, paint looks awesome! Welcome! As for mechanics, I'm sure you'll get some reply's on variouse cruiser related wrenching experiences with local shops.

Howdy!! Welcome aboard. Looks like you have scored a very tidy Iron Pig. Only a few of these around the area, compared to other cruisers. Driveline is pretty much the same as the FJ 40s, so the main tech board for 40's & 55's is a good place for info. How's the cancer in the floors and bottoms of the front fenders? John

The paint is actually pretty bad, original was the sage green. Going to soda blast it down and repaint the outside and liner the inside. The floorboards are ok, small hole on the passenger side and another small hole towards the rear passenger wheel well. Whoever had it before put wall to wall shag carpet on the inside so it's full of glue and goo. That picture makes it look better than it is. The fenders seem ok but who knows until the layers of paint are gone. The problem I'm having is a lot of stuff isn't stock anymore so I'm guessing at problems. Need a wrench to look it over.

It runs off and on. Needs brakes, new rubber. It had sat with old gas for a couple of years. I just replaced dist cap, rotor, points, cond, wires, plugs etc. Still needs to be timed. It has carb issues and after looking at it needs to be rebuildt. I tried to empty out as much of the old gas as I could but it has an aftermarket tank on it and no drain plug. I'm not even sure how to get it off the truck. So it will be a while before I dare go further than a mile or two. I might stop buy just to say hi and pick your brains :)

Welcome :flipoff2: Nice Pig :bounce:

Welcome justweldit & cml25!

Hey cml25,
I work in Gilbert (til 3). I'd be happy to stop by after work one day to give it a quick once over.
Don't worry about getting all the old gas out. It'll burn off no problem. I've got a couple tricks for blowing the crap out of the carb, too.

Hey I'm Scott, just found the board.

BJ's in Tucson, sweet...

Welcome.

Hi all, we're Danny and Kathy. We've had our FJ for about 7 months and we've really been having a blast with it. On New Years Day, we were fortunate enouth to meet Toos R Us, Brother Rob, DSRTRDR and Chase Truck. They envited us to run with them through Walnut Canyon and the surrounding area. We are rookies, so to say the least, we learned alot. What an incredable time we had, and what incredably nice people we met.
