So I have just repossessed my 2004 Lexus GX470 I bought back in 2015 with 112k miles for my now 23 year old daughter to drive during college. She now has a 2016 Lexus ES 350, so I will start to modify the GX for fun. I have ordered an OME 2.5 inch lift with rear airbag conversion kit, 1 & ¼ inch spacers for the stock wheels and BFG KO2’s 285/70/17’s. Does anyone have experience/suggestions with this lift/tire size combination? Any info would be appreciated! Thanks.

have you seen the megathread about wheels and tires? Lots of info there with plenty of us running 285s

Thanks vwynn! I'll check out the thread.

so to accommodate the meatier tires, most people have to do some level of cutting and trimming.... two most common are (1) removal of running boards and (2) pulling front inner fender forward. so you'll just have to see how it works out with yours. i think i replied to you in a different thread, but post some pics once the work is done and let us know what you think about the OME suspension.

I'll let you know and post pics once done.....hoping with the spacers I get lucky, but I'm not above cutting! I've cut skid plates on my 2008 Tundra when I put 35's on......My wife just said to stay away from her 2015 GX460 and I should live another day!

So after a month waiting on the OME lift it is finallly done. 1.25 spacers on stock rims and BFG KO'2 285/70/17.

Basic lift, bigger tires, and you are ready to hit the trails. It looks nice. Remove running boards and cut rear mud flaps to gain more ground clearance...if you need clearance that is.

@slowhogg I actually like the look of a lifted 470 with the stock running boards. It doesn't look too buchered. That may be due to not being a youngin' any more. although if you wheel a ton, removing them, as @HomersCanyonero suggested, will net you better reults.

I'm also partial to the color

Agreed, I'm 51 and I would/will remove running boards if needed but I live in the deep south, mostly mud around here...no rocks!

Like the color as well, very similar to the slate on my 2008 tundra............
