Hello to everyone. You may have seen me ask some questions here and there, but I haven't really introduced myself.

I picked up my 01 LX this June and have been getting things done here and there. As stated in my title, my LX isn't going to be an off road rig, but not really a mall cruiser either. I used to be a service tech, and I'm now a stay at home dad, so my build will be going pretty slow since I no longer have the disposable cash on hand any more. I'm also very OCD so when I take on a project, I take apart every nook and cranny, clean, inspect, and often times replace. I've also gotten into some things and wanted to share.

More pics:

Used Gorilla Glue for the sub because it said it worked on foam. It said it expands during curing. I just didn't know it would expand that much

Looks very nice. Couple questions:

  1. How do you like the FatMat product?
  2. How long did it take you to do the rear; e.g. remove seats and carpet, put down FatMat, etc.?
I just did my front doors with Dynamat Extreme on the exterior and Focal BAM sound deadening on the interior. It really cut down on the road noise up front and am looking forward to doing the rear doors followed by the rear.

Looks fabulous! I've been wanting to add some sound proofing as well. I did the rear wheel we'll sin the cargo area and love it. Just don't want to peel the front seats, carpet and center console.

DO THE SOUNDPROOFING! BIG DIFFERENCE!

I still haven't finished it to my standards, but for what I've done so far its night and day. I've been driving around without interior for a couple weeks now. The first time I drove without interior in the car I took my son to soccer. He kept looking for an open door or window. The wheel wells are crazy loud and there is NO sound deadening on the rear floors. I drove it tonight with the FatMat and it was just as quiet as having interior back in. Once I get the interior in I'm sure it will be even more quiet. I still have to do the front feet area.

FatMat makes the basic mat and the rattle trap. I used the basic. I've used it in the past as well and its a pretty good product. The rattle trap is closest to dynamat xtreme. I bought the 50sqft and ran out pretty quickly. 75sqft is about what you would need for the floors. 100sqft would be needed to do the doors as well. I may do the doors next spring when I'm planning on tackling the speakers.

It took me about 5-6 hours to pull all the interior. Not bad at all. Just keep a bag around for all the little clips, bolts and screws.

Oh, and to lay the FatMat; that was about 4 hours. If I could do it again I would take more time with it and fill the indentions first, and then lay a solid peice across it. Doing it the easy way 4 hours. For someone wanting to seriously take it to the next level and fill every nook and cranny could be 10 - 15 hours easy.

Very nice job! Looking forward to your follow ups.

I plan on doing the same thing down the line. Dynamat Xtreme has gone down in price making this more feasible . Did you also do the trunk lid? Is the rear carpet all one piece? (when I do this Im going to replace my carpet to marine grade)

I didn't do the trunk lid, just because there isn't really a good way to access it. The thing to do would be to line the bottom of the cover that goes over it. The rear carpet is all one piece but the padding is really thick around the child seat attachments, so if you switch carpet you may way to look into some residential padding to go underneath or it won't lay flat.

Got in my LED panels for the front map lights today. Opened the package and immediately noticed that they were going to be too long to fit. The ad said 36x40mm and what I got was 36x50mm. Didn't want to deal with returning and ordering something else, so I decided to use them for the rear map lights.

My original plan was to put in a 24 5050 LED panel on each side, but I guess 36 1210 LED's will have to do for now. Here's some pics. Much brighter than factory

License LED's added - Before and After

Honestly I like the before. Subtle. I guess i dont consider other people reading my license plate to be a benefit. I do love all the attention your giving your truck overall. Keep up the good work.

I used FatMat Rattle trap in my truck. when I replaced the speakers, i did the doors. I took the leftover and started on the wheel wells. I ran out. I ordered 50 sq. feet and was able to do the floor and cover the wheel wells with two layers. I also did the lower portion of the tailgate by removing the carpet.

I didn't remove the second row of seats though....only to where the cargo carpet comes apart (Velcro). I haven't gotten the carpet or the paneling back in, but I can tell a difference.

I honestly can't say that I would have gone to all the trouble other than I was chasing down a leak in the rear cargo area and I already had the interior out.

Looks like you have gotten a lot done on your list. Keep up the good work!!

Pics of the Cree Reverse lights. They def put out a ton of light. Its just very focused light. I wish they had a little more spread to the sides.
