Greetings. I've been a member of this forum for years but just finally purchased a 1994 Land Cruiser Prado. I've admired the LCs from afar for several decades, but being stationed in Okinawa Japan, the opportunity finally presented itself and I jumped. I'm very much enjoying the Prado and working on getting all the little issues sorted; ordered several interior bits from Mainland Japan and found several out of production pieces on Partsouq. Not sure if I'll try to bring this back to the US when my tour is up but for now I'm focused on enjoying it.
Thanks for all the information I've garnered from the forums, y'all are a great group!

This KZJ78 looks dope. Congrats man. If this was my truck the only thing cosmetic I would do is different wheels and maybe paint the roof tan to match lol

I know this is early but IIWU I would start planning on bringing her to the US afterwards. Even if you are not playing on keeping the truck, the resale value in the States is good enough reason for it.

Looks really nice. Enjoy your ride and the learning experience it comes with (a plus in my book).

Cheers!

Thanks Tigris - appreciate the comments, I've enjoyed it a ton already and am definitely learning a ton. I've got a few years to consider whether to bring it back or not, enjoying the heck out of it for now! Thanks again

In a few years you'll thoroughly hooked on Land Cruisers like the rest of the tortured souls on this forum.

Nice rig! These look great in that color combo. Did you get it from FLEX by any chance?
Thanks! I did get it from a dealer in mainland Japan but it wasn't FLEX, but I've seen their website and they have some beautiful LCs!

Very nice truck! I love the colour!

The only thing I would change, personal preference obviously, is the BJ/HZJ front bumper. They really dig the retro look over there, and I've noticed that bumper on many Prados guess its a cultural thing. I just prefer the original one.

I've owned mine for almost 9 years now and I don't think I could ever part from it. I've enjoyed it so much and still do, and I hope you will too and end up taking it home 🙂

Thanks Malteser! I didn't even realize it was a different bumper, I'll have to go research what the original bumpers look like. I was thinking of having this on powdercoated or painted so before I do that I need to see what the original looked like. I am very much enjoying it, a little more everyday, already hard to think about leaving it here when the time comes to go :)

There were 2 types, same design style just different length end caps. I believe KZJs came only with the longer type.

Gotcha, just checked them out, thanks for that, I just assumed the one that was on there was the original one.

Yes mine came from Japan with the same HZJ bumper. I have yet to replace it even when I have a new replacement sitting in the garage, mainly because I'm contemplating fabricating something of my own.

Like @malteser said, there seem to be a thing for that retro 40~55 series look in Japan, honestly, I don't find it offensive since I've always loved the Iron Pig 😊

A lot of inspiration and knowledge can be found here. Best of luck!
