Holy S#!T!!! eshelbyk needs to post some pics of his rig, because I am a tech geek as well as a cruiser geek, and that is quite a parts list.

If you were a camera geek too, we could be soulmates.

Pretty busy with projects and no time for doing studio shots of the rig, so you'll just have to wait! :) There might be something on my server-

That's basically what I'm doing. That tablet only runs an 800Mhz processor, so any old laptop should do it, this kind of software doesn't take much in terms of processing. My tablet also only has 256MB of RAM and is running Windows XP to give you an idea. I went with the tablet to get rid of the space the keyboard uses.

Just get to gpsgeek.com or look on ebay for a combo power/data cable for your Garmin. The data part of the cable will be the old style 9-pin serial cable, which most older laptops should use. If the laptop has only USB ports, you get a USB-to-serial converter (which is what I ended up using), also found on ebay.

PS- cool tach TOY350!

For software for beginners in this, I highly recommend-

Topo stuff-

Natl Geographic TOPO! State Series
Delorme's Topo USA (or Topoquads 3D?)
MapTech Terrain Navigator (bought per state)

OziExplorer and some others are a lot more involved, and not something to begin with

City/Street-

anything, I've been using an old copy of MS Streets and Trips
these are relatively cheap compared to the topo-level programs

eshelbyk that looks like a good geocaching setup. Is there any room for a passenger?

I love cameras as well. I have a Cannon AE-1 from the eighties-ninteys. I don't have enough dough to buy any new equipment.

The tach info is either on this board or Pirate..I know because I asked also when I did my swap...It is a sun tach from Autozone if memory serves me right...hey how about some info on the monitor mount... :)

Absolutely. The RAM stuff is very maneuverable. I have the display and GPS more under the rear-view mirror right now, and it can be swung to favor driver, passenger, or more neutrally rear-facing. Passenger has as much room as if nothing were there. One large knob at the base of the mount removes everything completely (different bases are available).

Very nice.......tell me details.........ive been meaning to do something like that in mine.

I think it's a Pro Tach. Bought at Schucks (Kragen down south) for $34.99. It is a tight fit but works great.

This is my low-tech soltuion to the gps/lap top problem. I sandwiched some nylon strap with cinch buckles under the arm rest of my tuffy to hold the lap top. I can close the lap top and use the lap top for an arm rest. I installed a cigarette lighter power outlet underneath the tuffy. I use a GPS on a PC/MCIA card with remote antenna (not shown), so I only have the PC power to worry about.

I'm still playing with this set up. At times I've had the PC lock up and had to push the hard reset button on the bottom of the PC. I don't know if it's a thermal issue (the vinyl arm rest might be blocking the cooling vents, or maybe I need a shock-resistent hard drive.

It's a Milford cargo barrier:

http://www.midwestlandcruiser.com/productlines/Milford/cargobarrier.htm

I got mine from the above link, but I think MAF sell's them too. It mounts behind the front seats or behind the rear seats. I had to drill through the cargo area floor in two places and into the interior roof knuckle in four places. It takes about 10 minutes to move it from one position to another.

Milfords were somewhat discussed in this thread: https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=22152
