Al and I are working on finalizing the 2015 calendar and need to get some feedback from the group.

There was a request for a Super HAMOM to be added to the calendar. However, I've heard these have not necessarily worked in the past since you don't plan on when something breaks.

I was thinking of a pre-season and post-season HAMOM. One in March and the other in October.

I guess, worst case, if it is added to the calendar and no one needs work done it could just be another day to hang out, drink beer and look at trucks.

So what say you? Add one Super HAMOM to the calendar? Add two Super HAMOM's to the calendar? Add individual HAMOM's as needed?

Sarah,

I don't have a preference on how many Super HAMOMs we do. However, I am willing to offer up my home shop for a Super HAMOM. I have a pretty good set-up for something like this. Space and parking is not an issue. My gravel driveway is circular and can accomodate lots of vehicles with easy entry and exit for those that don't need work. As far as working space, there is garage space for at least 3 vehicles under cover as well as space on the concrete pad for at least another six vehicles. I have some hand tools, air compressor and a 140V welder for small stuff. Also two beer fridges, a gas grill and outdoor patio/fireplace for socializing. If you want to bring kids, we have a zip-line that should keep them busy while we work. My location is in Matthews (Weddington). March may be out for me though unless it is early in the month. Y'all let me know if you want to do a HAMOM at my place. EDIT: Also I have two floor jacks, 6 or 8 jack stands and an engine lift if anyone needs it during the HAMOM. Mi casa es su casa!

Mr. Rushing's place is significantly larger than mine by the sounds of it. I have slots for at least 4 vehicles being worked on and another dozen or so between the rest of the driveway and street. None of the slots would be covered by anything other than my EZ-UP.

I'd be more than willing to host one!

I'm prepping to request a HAMOM but my request may be a "super" HAMOM in itself.

I'm hoping to do an axle/t-case swap on my 80 and having to transport all the necessary hardware would be a challenge. I'm at least a month out before I'm ready (still need to rebuild t-case with Marlin gears) but hope to be ready for a March request. Of course, I plan to host in my usual manner (plenty of food and beer) but don't really have the space to host others doing work also.

I've done so in the past but then became aware of how many rules I was breaking with my HOA.

Just thought I'd put this out there if people are planning such events...

If you need any help with this, LMK. As you know, I have the experience :D

Jerry you are more than welcome to bring the 80 here to do it if you like, lift may well make your life a whole lot easier. You can visit your 55 at the same time. We have a spare room for you as well as doing all that and a round trip in a day would kill an ordinary man :)

Heather and I have discussed having a Hamon here. I do not know if it would be a super hamon but there are two bays in the shop, one with a lift. There is also room on concrete pad in front of and behind the shop for at least 4 more vehicles along with plenty of parking. We can have a big bon fire in the evening as well. We also have a natural shooting range so everyone can bring their weapons and do some shooting and we can have the grill going as well. We do not have a zip lline but we do have horses here to check out as well. There is also plenty of room for camping.

We are open as far as the date goes, we'd just need some advance notice to gear up. Just let me know what the interest level is.

Since @roadstr6 has the space, do you all want to plan the super hamom for the end of March at his place and do a regular hamom at @NCFJ in Oct?

How does late march (Mar 28th) work so @Mtbcoach has time to prep? And if @NCFJ is okay with October maybe we can do it on Oct 3rd.

We could do a HAMON at my condo! I would love to piss off my HOA board hehe I'm the VP lol

Funny...I am the VP of my HOA as well! I was just reminded of this the other day when I was flogging the wee out of my old KDX 200 on the power line right-of-way behind my house. A neighbor came out with her hands on her hips as if to say, "Get that noise outta' here!" Oops! I putted it back home and put it away before the cops showed up. Hey, you gotta' try to set the example, right?

Sorry if I wasn't more clear, I plan to do my HAMOM at my house, despite any HOA violations. I've learned and plan to be discrete, not as obvious as the last HAMOM I hosted when we were building bumpers and running grinders in the driveway until all hours. I don't have the means to transport the axles/t-case and associated hardware somewhere else then bring the take-offs back home. I don't mean to be difficult, just as simple/easy as I can make it.

My general itinerary would be: prep all nuts and bolts with penetrating oil, Fri or Sat, remove axles/t-case/etc, coat undercarriage with Lizard Skin (or whatever I find on sale), allow curing overnight, install fresh parts Sat or Sun. Other parts to be installed include: OBA, dual battery, sliders but these can be done solo if the primary goal takes too long.

Otherwise, I'd have to pack everything up, giving me a great chance to forget something and not complete my goal. Hope it makes sense. If it doesn't fit into the ONSC calendar, I'll manage one way or another...

March 28th is not good timing for a HAMOM at my place. It's my daughter's birthday. Due to personal committments I would prefer to do one either prior to March 21 or wait until after June. I did sign up for a quarterly get-together in late June. I guess we could make that a Super HAMOM/Get Together? Or do we want to separate the two events? What say you, @FJ Junkie?

How about if we just have the HAMOMs as needed and I won't try adding those to the calendar? It seems a lot easier to just leave it off the calendar. Thanks for all the feedback.
