"highway / bush truck"
a truck capable of doing long hauls but capable off road at the same time.

i will probably sell it due to owning to many trucks of my own but you might be right, Berni might like it but i don't know if she should be driving an INTERCOOLED HDJ81 around, she does have a pretty heavy foot...
not like "Grampa Wayne" here...
anyone know which auto tranny came in the 1990 HDJs?
cheers

80 series Factory lockers and diesel... uh.. you guys are killing me. Wait til Tom reads views this thread :)

Between the 74's and the 81's I should have moved my ass to calgary vs denver

Wayne,

According to my manuals the 80 series had the either a A440F or A442F automatic transmission here is the break down:

With Full-time transfer case (HF2A) =

engine 3F (gas) or 1HZ manual tranny was H150F auto was A440F

engine 1HD-T manual tranny was H151F auto was A442F

With Part-time transfer case (HF1a) =

engine 3F (gas) or 1HZ manual tranny was H140F or H150F auto was A440F

engine 1HD-T manual tranny was H151F auto was A442F

transfer case high range was 1.000 and low range was 2.488 on both transfer cases.

Hope that helps,

Cheers,

Michael

Take heart in knowing thta the HDJ-80 made it to the states before Canada (well at least one) and also take heart in knowing that I got one before Wayne :D :D :D

Oh, we also have the 100 series and Canada does not.

I hope that helps a little bit,

Michael

Good for a laugh though.

well, i talked to my shipper and it should be here (if all goes well) middle of next month along with another HDJ81 http://www.luxuryimports.ca/forsale/1990HDJ81-2/index.php and another LJ71. if they both arrive then one will be heading off to our branch in Ontario for test drives and the other will remain here... i wonder which one that will be???
;^)
cheers

a camping package is a piece of covered plywood, sink, stove that is removable from the back. i hear that it is quite comfortable to sleep on.
a hot/cold box is a cooler that sits between the front seats and can keep a 6 pack quite cold...
cheers

Hey Wayne, can you explain this to me?

sure,
we are opening a branch in Ontario, i am shipping a couple trucks down next week and when the 81s show up then one of them will be heading down as well...
what would you like to know?
cheers

Ontario is a pretty big province ;) can you be more specific on where the "branch" will be?

If it's anywhere near Guelph and you need investors or even a car wash jockey, let me know.

it is about 2 1/2 hours from Guelph...
it is going to be located in Goderich...
thanks for the offer...
cheers

so what kind of mileage would one of these get? mid 20's?

Also can you shoot me an e-mail with the est. price for this rig? I know its not pretty and clean but that may be more up my alley as pretty and clean are words not usually associated with me! :)

the price will be under $20,000 and the fuel economy will be dependant on how you drive, if you drive like i do then high teens to low 20s, if you drive like my dad then probably mid 20s to high 20s...
the biggest problem is once you have the power you are prone to use it.
if it didn't have the diff lock and the intercooler then the price would be closer to $16,000...
thanks for the interest
cheers

How rare/plentiful are Diesel 5-Spd JDM 81s with FR&RR Diff locks, do you know by chance?
