Does anyone know if a FJ55 rear axle and a FJ60 rear axle are the same width? I'm thinking that the FJ55 and FJ40 are the same and the FJ60 is wider. Am I right? If they are the same width are they interchangeable or if not is the rear brake setup (backing plate, wheel cylinders etc. etc.) interchangeable. I'd like to go with the e-brake at the rear axle and full BJ60 running gear on the FJ55 rebuild.

55 and 40 are the same, 60 is wider.

55 drivetrain is in almost all if not all cases the same as Fj40. (Freak F 4 spd tranny that is pretty much nonexistant in US).
So disks+fine spline birf 76+
Fine spline R&P 78+ IIRC

FJ55's came out with disk axles in '76. I kind of expected that the FJ40/55 were the same and the FJ60 was wider :(.
Does andone know if I can swap the drum brake components over from the FJ60 rear axle to the FJ55 rear axle to give me the e-brake function at the axle rather than the transfer case?

B.T.W. I found this data on Pirate awhile back. The dimensions were converted from mm (hence the decimal point)

land crusier axle widths

FJ40 front 56.16"
FJ40 rear 56"

FJ55 same as above

FJ60 front 59.4"
FJ60 rear 58.8"

FJ80 front 62.8
FJ80 rear 64"
