have a question for you Cruiser Gurus, will a 2F manifold bolt up to a 3FE head so that I can run a carb. on my 3FE until I have time to sort out my wirring problem in my EFI???

I have a intake manifold and carb from at 81 2F that I would like to bolt up also can a 3FE distributor be converted to run with out the EFI system rather with a carb. And if not can I swap in 2F dizzy???

here is a pic of a 3FE (top) and 2F (bottom) gasket there seems to be the correct holes in the 3FE to allow a 2F manifold to be bollted up, just wanted to check with the experts first.

Thanks

It will fit. There are some pins sticking out of the 3fe head which fit in the extra holes that the 3fe head gasket has. You can cut them off and the 2f gasket will fit perfectly. I'm in the middle of installing a 3fe head on a 2f engine and that is one of the problems I ran in to. If you are planning on reinstalling the original equipment however I would probably just drill the holes on the gasket to accomodate the pins rather than cutting them off.

If you want swap to carb. setup with your old 3FE motor, how about using of small non-usa dizzy ?
My FJ62 has 3F carb motor and it use point type dizzy which has small cap.
So if you swap to carb setup, it might similiar with mine.

2F & 3FE carbs are not interchangeable. The 3F has a shorter (not as tall) engine block, the dizy shafts are different lengths. Other than that I think it is a cool idea, I would be interested to know if it works out.

what is the difference between the 2F and 3FE carbs. what makes them unable to be interchangeable?

There's no carb for 3FE. isn't it ? I think you added the letter 'E' by mistake. :)
Because of hardness of getting profer parts, I'd adopted some parts from US 2F carb and installed to my 3F carb.
I compared carefully and found they have same dimension and are almost similiar.
If you plug some vacuum ports, adjust something then you can run 2F carb on 3F motor.
Regarding engine block, I know 3F and 3FE's engine block have same dimension that I'd suggested using of 3F's dizzy on 3FE.
If there's something I know incorrectly, please inform me.
Thank you,

Yeah, my bad.

2F dizy wont fit 3F, 3FE block
2F, 3F carbs are the same basic thing
3FE (the only US 3F engine that there is) does not have a carb, hence the E

I will not type any more until I am awake. Too bad I don't like coffee.

OK, Have good sleeping time Kevin ! :)
