i'm right in the middle of installing my 4.88s that someone setup for me in a spare carrier they had. i just noticed thought that this new carrier isn't setup for a speed sensor for ABS brakes which my truck has. Can I keep on going or do I have to find a new carrier?

I'm relatively sure the ABS sensor on that truck counts the teeth of the ring gear. So it shouldn't matter.

Just to be clear, when you state "carrier" are you talking the open carrier that they are placing in your third member? Or are you using the term to describe the entire third member?

if it's the latter - say bye-bye to ABS.

k, i got the terminology mixed up i guess. i'll dumb it down... the gears are installed in their "housing" already. I am attempting to install the housing into the center of the axle (differential). the gear housing on my 4.10s that i am removing have a spot to bolt my speed sensor to which the new housing does not.

Bye bye ABS..

Do you have a V6 now? If so, your third member is stronger than a 4-cyl, and I'd consider keeping it and regearing if you want ABS... The V6 third also has larger bearings, which may or may not give you any strength gain.
