Ok, I am working on the OME suspension and I have an issue I need some guidance with.

I need to know which spring goes where. In things I have read here, it talks about the DS actually goes on the USPS.

But my springs are marked A and B.

So where do they go???????????????/

The taller spring goes on the longer side of the axle.

Ok, going by the length thing, it would seem that:

A goes on the US-PS (right side)
B goes on the US-DS (left side)

This was confirmed with a call to Ben at Slee.

Thanks!!!

Now on to the steering stabilizer. YUCK.

I just installed J's on my cruiser yesterday, and had the same tags. I just matched the longer spring coming off the vehicle and put the new longer springs on that side. I believe the longer springs were both on the drivers side, but there was only about 1/4" of difference between one side from the other. So... which was the longer spring, A or B? Hope I got it right. It looks and drives nice, and seems level side to side.

just to to make sure....
the rear springs are the same and interchangable right?

Yes and no.........

91-92 vehicles with 31-10.50 tires have identical Rear original equipment springs with a 10mm steel spacer used on top of the LH spring. All others have a longer spring on the LH side. (A careful observer will note that the spacers used in the above example make the LH spring longer :flipoff2: )

I didn't check the fronts, but did on the rear. I put them as shown above, with the longer one going on the longer side of the axle as I was instructed. It seems to sit level, and a measurement from pavement to wheel-well edge says they are within 1/8-1/4" of each other, and I blame the different on the driveway or such.

Ride it better, but I HAVE to get the caster problem resolved. Pulled it in the garage tonight and have things marked and the axle ratcheted down. Will remove the arms tomorrow night and hopefully press out the old and in with the new bushings.

Are there any special CUSS words that make this part easier???? :flipoff2:

i don't know where you got your correction bushings... but if you got the aluminum press piece with them DO NOT use it for removing your old bushings... i mangled the hell out of mine trying that and had a not so enjoyable time trying to put the new ones in....

i bought my lift from Christo at Slee Offroad... and he included the press piece.... nice addition but i wish it had been steel

Stress, where are you? someone in the area may have an alignment jig fabbed up that would help out a lot.

BTW, My "J"s had "L" and "R" on them. Pretty stupid if you mess that one up. And no I didn't. ;)

I just purchased a set of OME susp. for my '62. They tech guys said that "A" always means drivers side spring, and "B" vise versa.

Ben at Slee side 'A' was DS, but AU-DS. So that would be US-PS.

I hope that is right because that is the way I installed mine!!!

Guys, you are making this so difficult and it needn't be. If you buy your stuff from knowledgeable folks, then you get good advice on how to install them.

Here's a hint though, if when you are done, your truck has excessive lean to one side, you messed up  :D

how bad is it that I *just* put my used lift in and can't remember if the rears were marked for sides....... this is only a week or so ago.

I'm loosing my mind, and now I'm wondering...

I'll tape it somewhere level and see.
