Does anyone have specific instructions for installation of a Mobi-Arc 200x in a 1997 FZJ80 ? Also, do I need a circuit breaker between the positive lead and the battery - if so what amperage ? I assume this thing can be wired into the aux battery without a problem as the alternator will charge the aux and it is connected to the main. Lastly - I mounted mine right behind the front grill (on the horn bracket) as I was unable to find room in my engine compartment. Will this pose a problem with wind, water etc ?

Thank you,

Matt

Hi Matt - I can only suggest that you talk to the mobi guy who has been on this board in the past. I think he's got a 98 TLC.

Here's his user id profile -> https://forum.ih8mud.com/member.php?userid=3279

Since he hasn't been on for awhile, I'd email him. If anybody is able to provide advice, it should be him.

Some of the guys got into a "discussion" with him on the topic of isolators over on the Outfitting forum.

It will be curious to see what sort of support you get. I seemed to suggest the guys here could call his Engineers for help.

Mobi

I'll do that - thank you. I'll post the results.

Mobi is a good dude, he'll help you straight away. Do us a favor though and post up any info you get, pics etc. I know at least 2 others that were considering that route.

Scott should set you straight. I have one on the ShortBus and had one on the LX470. Pulled it from there. The welder does not weld off the batteries, but it welds from the alternator output.

As for mounting, sure Scott will suggest the same, but I would not put it behind the grill. The unit is robust, but I would try to keep it away from to much water and road grime.

Mobi-Arc

What's a good spot for it ? Under the hood - - - or could it be mounted in the rear somewhere ? In one of the compartments of the outback drawers ?

Moved it

Ok, I moved the mobi-arc out of the grill area - any suggestions as to where it should go ? Any custom brackets made for this thing ?

Has the vendor been able to provide you with any suggestions as to how to mount and install in your Land Cruiser?

Matthew, on my LX470 I had it behind the PS light in front of the airbox. On the shortbus it is in the battery tray where the original battery was located. None of these help you. Do you have a SC or dual batteries?

Also, I do not have a circuit breaker between the unit and the alternator. Not sure if this is something new that Scott recommend.

Did you get hold of Scott, if not, you can call us and we can help you. We have 3 of these installed on different vehicles so we can help you.

No - nothing vehicle specific. Maybe I'll need to have a custom bracket fabricated - something that attaches to the passenger side frame near the battery ??

Slee - I have a dual battery setup. Would it be too far from the alternator if mounted in the rear ?

Anyone out there with some pics ??

I don't know how wide this thing is but can it fit in front of the driver side battery, behind the headlights? My Quickair2 compressor fits in there nicely with some room to spare.

No - it won't fit. I have too much electrical wiring in that area.
