I was considering just a solid steel door with a lock rather than the whole box BUT that would still leave vulnerability to getting into the box from underneath - negating any real security.

Looks like a good idea. Nice to see something designed for a cruiser instead of trying to adapt Heep parts.

I agree.

I THINK that if these were made and on the shelf that they would sell.. The trick is getting the cost as low as possible...

Making a business out of it?... I'm not so sure there is enough margin or sales volume to make it viable... for me anyway. Maybe someone with more free time that I have that lives someplace with a lower cost of manufacturing, and a lower cost of living, and a big enough place to be able to store 100 of these COULD make a go of it.

I'd be HAPPY to share what I have done so far with someone that wants to do it...

I still want one of these. Any new interest?

I am seriously torqued at the prevalence of the Walmart mindset. Good god people why is price always at the forefront when someone comes up with a cool product? Stop asking these innovators to price items to ridiculously low levels; do you have any clue what it costs to do the R&D and then get stuff manufactured? If you don't want one or want to suggest another product would work better just don't answer.
To the OP, how close are you to the necessary numbers to begin manufacturing? I am interested.
Thanks for the effort.

I really only had 2-3 people express solid interest. I would consider getting these made to have stock on hand despite the cost of that inventory BUT storage of these would be a bit of an issue in my household. These will take up a good amount of room each and 50 of them...

I'm with grumpyhead12 on this one. I have no problem paying for cool custom goods. It takes a lot of time & effort to come up with innovative products. Heck, I've been waiting ever since I got my truck for wagongear tailgates to be in stock and that's a $400+ accessory that I may rarely use, but it's really cool. A locking glove box would be highly bennificial. Especially to us gun owners.

If you gain interest enough to get the ball rolling again, I'd be more than happy to help out any way I can.

Yeah would definitely be cool to see this go into production. One cool thing is now that we have crowd source funding available for things like this we can actually get at them a lot more regularly. If you garner enough interest again maybe a Kickstarter is worth while?

I am in and curious about the time frame. I am currently having some fabrication work done including a glove box inner made from aluminum. I will put that on hold if Mark's setup is a near certain thing. Any thoughts about that Mark?
