^^Yeah, better to park it under a powerline full of pigeons than to paint it gamecock colors.

Ouch - not nice. Just please tell me you're not one of those orange colored fools cheering for the clemson kitty cats!

I always thought Sandstorm would good on 100s.

I always thought Sandstorm would good on 100s.

Carolina fans really are a huge fan of "Sandstorm" these days (which is a terrible song). Go Tigers.

On an unrelated note, my LC is Thunder Cloud, which I'm not a huge fan of. If I could redo it, I'd go with regular Black. Also, I personally like the contrast of the trim pieces; I think it's something that keeps them from looking like Highlanders.

If you plan to wheel at all, steer clear of vinyl wrap. It rips, scratches and tears pretty easily...

Just as someone else mentioned earlier, do a wrap. At least, it'll be much easier to undo if you decide to go another route with the color in the future.

That was my first thought too. I know Schutt includes a wrap with all of their trailers which are specifically built for the trail. Perhaps they hold up better than we think?

Not sure. Maybe there are different grades. Local guy told me not to waste my time with it. He was a auto wrap professional. It would be cool if they could be really resistant to scratches and not tear.

I would guess you can wrap flat panels (such as on a Schutt trailer) with much thicker material than a vehicle with curves.

I think those newer FJ Cruiser nonmetallic colors are nice. I just wouldn't want to deal with prepping and masking 5 door jambs. And, the engine compartment, you can't really paint in there unless you gut it, and it looks lame when you open a door or hood and see the old color. Thats my thought. I have considered changing my color too, but the engine compartment and door jambs are what stops me, such a pain. I like your original color though.

Yeah, doing the jambs is going to be a bit of work but not really all that hard. Each door is a total of 6 bolts, 2 screws and a body panel to unplug the wires. Pull the seals off the jamb and you have the perfect place for tape and the seals will cover up any bit of remaining old color. As for the engine compartment i'll pull the hood and get the edges and upper firewall down to the first weld section and the front cross member.

In the end I enjoy the challenge - never done this before and want to give it a try. Had never done a complete Timing belt/water pump/oil pump or dropped a differential from a vehicle before either but that turned out great and had fun doing so. With some time and a little learning figure I can not only make it look nice again I can also make it unique with whatever color I ultimately decide.

You will need this for the rear glass chicken_decal.webp and this d3_2.webp to complete the look.

Just a little fun with you man. I would not like orange on my LC either. It would look like a pumpkin.
Whatever you like is what counts the most. The jade green would be sharp though.

I was just thinking that if you go with your original colors, go with a matte/satin finish. A Landcruiser is just too big for in-your-face bright colors (exception, Slee's Yellow Bus, that was cool!), but as a matte finish, it may come out very nice!

That's pretty good jab  - and given how bad the bball team is not too far off right now. Hopefully can right the ship a little this weekend with the baseball team.

wow - I really like that color..... ^^^^
