A little hand brake isn’t even going to slow a 2.5 ton vehicle.I will say an emergency hand brake is more useful/adaptive than a pedal push-lock parking brake.
It's all about the mechanical advantage, amigo. LandCruisers are nearly two and a half tons, and they will stop just fine with a "little hand brake".A little hand brake isn’t even going to slow a 2.5 ton vehicle.
I will say an emergency hand brake is more useful/adaptive than a pedal push-lock parking brake.
My memory is learners are taught its NOT an emergency brake.
It’ll slow it down… slightly. It’s a tiny little friction mechanism. It's funny to me that you guys call it an e brake.
Over here its a parking brake, park brake, or hand brake. My memory is learners are taught its NOT an emergency brake.
I haven't had a cruiser yet with a hand brake I'd like to rely on in an emergency

I’ve always called it a parking brake.
Newer German cars don’t have a friction parking brake but instead lock up the actual discs.
I can’t imagine the 70 will last much longer if I have to be honest. It has to end at some point, and at the end of the day, it’s a gas guzzler designed in 1984They are taking orders in Australia/NZ for the Grenadier now. They have 16 dealers in Australia, 4 in NZ. You give them a refundable $800 deposit and later you get to build the vehicle you want and will be delivered 2nd half of 22. They will be a non negotiable $84000AUD base price. Diesel engine may have 50Nm added torque by delivery time.
They are looking like a serious contender to Toyota.

Builder of 4×4 utility vehicle picks Raleigh for US headquarters, new jobs | WRAL TechWire
A $60 billion global conglomerate that's planning to begin selling a 4x4 utility next year will base its US operations in Raleigh.www.wraltechwire.com
This would be a cool job to get, considering I live in Raleigh
Even if I had the money I would not be buying one until they had proven themselves. Because of the pandemic, they never got to test them in Australia. The fine red dust combined with moisture in the air can make red mud around electrical connectors, Jeep and Landrover suffered from this a few years back.I might look at one used a little down the road when I go car shopping…
Like the young guy who took his aircraft models to a Qantas interview and ended up flying 747s for them.My younger brother did a ground up resto of a 1970s GMH Sedan, full bidy work, respray, interior, engine build up etc, all at home in the garage while at high school.
When he left school, he drove around to all the local body shops. Being able to talk in detail about all the work he had personally done, and coordinated on that car got him a job in a well respected shop.
Some shops flat out refused to believe a 16 year old was capable of building and painting such a well presented car, accused him of lying.
Others were willing to talk, and after a chat had made it obvious he had done what he said, they were suitably impressed, but didn't have an opportunity available.
Just glancing at stuff, it doesn’t seem to me they got all the global testing done they wanted to yet. Looks like they just hit AUS for testing. Some videos were out a month or two ago of some journalists rides around a course. But they weren’t allowed to drive them and there were reported stalling issues. I’d have thought the basic engine programming would have been pretty complete. Hope it comes together quick…Even if I had the money I would not be buying one until they had proven themselves. But I really hope they are successful. After The Defender and Patrol went off the market, Toyota had the HD solid front axle market to themselves.
BMW inline 6s are amazing engines in operation, but in service the breakage potential of all the lightweight plastic and alu parts is horrendous. Probably not a problem for a dealership with all kinds of spares on hand, but I say a few prayers before I do anything on my wife's BMW.I’m just happy they used a BMW engine that already has parts availability instead of designing their own engine. People may be mad at them for going BMW but it’s better than their own engine with new unique parts that are impossible to get
