Hey friends,

If anyone has any good leads or even general advice on sourcing a reliable master cylinder assembly I would appreciate the help!

I bought a remanufactured unit of eBay a little over a year ago and I started getting the seagull screech this morning😩

From what I understanding am probably hearing the actuator, but I’m under the impression that I should replace the whole unit. If I am incorrect and there is a better way please let me know!

Thank you all, as always, for your support!!!

Just buy a new master, using your VIN #. I buy locally at Toyota or from Eric at Serrai Toyota in AL. Eric is only one I trust to pack and ship.

I use only Toyota brake fluid.

Catch a sale, and save big. The run now and then. But still save here:

These remanufacture master are BS. One day, they'll get someone killed. They can replace master plunger, rebuild the motor, swap the accumulator, clean the reservoir. But they can not do anything about the non replaceable seal, sealed if forward end on master. This seal, is root cause of dying segal. They do nothing with ABS unit (black box of side of master), nor can they do much.

I see time and time again. People recommending this guy on FB remanufactured master also sold on ebay. You're only buying some time at best. Your reliability goes down and long term cost go up.

Thank you @2001LC! You save my bacon once again ☺️

That makes a lot of sense. I should have bought a new one last year but the price of a remanufactured one was too appealing 😩

I’ll check this guy out and probably get that👍 they wanted $2,400 here in Austin 😣

Warning when using vin to check compatability on serra Toyota's website. They matched 4 different master cylinders to my VIN. All different. I would check multiple Toyota sites to confirm. But I'm pretty sure since you have a 2001 you'll need the one I accidentally bought for my 2000. The last one listed below.

(Serra does have an even better price than impex from Japan, even before one of their sales. So they are worth going through)

Here's my notes from the differences. Keep in mind I'm not an authority but I believe this to be correct:

47050-60010 year 1999 w/o stability

47050-60012 year 2000 without stability control also 2001

47050-60041 year 2000 with stability control also 1999

47050-60042 2001 w stability control

I like www.partouq.com for part numbers. Most Toyota online portals, aren't worth a darn. But by using VIN# when ordering, your protected on fitment.

Thanks again @2001LC! I have another question when you have a moment. Our Toyota dealership here in Austin told me the part I needed was 47050-60012, so that’s what I ordered from Decatur. ( they did an excellent job by the way! You weren’t kidding!!!)

But as it turns out, it’s the wrong part😩 my assembly takes 4 brake lines and this one only takes 3.

Now I’m looking at 47050-60042 but I can’t find any good images to see if it has the 4 line inputs.

Any advice on how I can determine the exact right part for my car? The VIN sec gives me about 5 options…

Thanks @Brandon Ryder!

I did this exact thing even with your warning😩 the Toyota dealership here in Austin told me I needed 0012 but I think you are right, it looks like I need 0042😣

When you add the VIN# during check-out. Web page has some statement "fitment". So if you add VIN, just let them know you've wrong one. Even if you didn't. Ask them for help. Tell Eric, you found them in ih8mud thread 2001LC (Paul from Denver) created for the sales. He's a good guy, and will do what he can.

I avoid giving P/N's. As so many think all 100 series the same, they're not. With brake master in USA 100 (LC & LX) series. I see 4 or more P/N's.
3 line 98-02. After that all 4 line. But even that I'd have to check. Since LC 98-99 had rear locks, LX did not. They added ATAC, when rear locker removed.
First pressure sensor type A (flat), was first half of 2000. After that Type B
Mid 2000 -2002 I show: 47050-60042. Use P/N, at your own risk.
03-07.
