31 threads in a month....

almost everything posted for sale is either A> a vendor or B> easily fit into one of the other classified sections

I "guess" I didn't expect this section to develop into an extension of the Business classified corners...

hate to say it, but i think this experiment has run it's course...items for sale would be better served by including the prefix "JDM: " in the thread title....

comments welcome....

I hear ya, Woody; however, I like having the one place to come. I don't have to wade through as many regular ads to look for things. Just one man's view, and no matter what--THANKS.

Do the vendors want to limit themselves by maintaining one thread each?

You can edit and add to your thread if needed.

Ideas??

I like this section for finding specific parts for diesels. Prior to having this section we had guys posting wanted or for sale diesel JDM stuff in the tech forum because they wanted a specific audience to see it. And their ads when moved to the other classifed sections rarely got seen by the people who need the parts.

I find this section very helpful. But we can't have it turn into just advertising for business. There have been complaints about that by other members.

Let's find a solution.

31 threads in a month...not enuf traffic to warrant keeping alive, IMO...

and, as noted, it's almost all business/vendor...which has an area already....Banner vendors largely already exercise their option to create/change banners monthly...I encourage it.

Intersetingly, it's 3-4 vendors (banner and other) that seem to havae these JDM parts....tracking them individually outta be a breeze, and having them update their individual threads in the proper vendor corners.

The experiment in the Mod corner will allow the seller to specify the general category their part is for ie: JDM, suspension, etc...and the ability to use Advanced search to narrow things down will help a great deal too. Once we hash out categories over the next couple weeks, that will implement itself initially in the Vehicle section and later into the balance of the personal classifieds.

Also, I always encourage Vendors (banner and otherwise) to be creative with their 'sig lines and make sure folks read them....

I'll admit, I do wish i had a need for some of this kewl JDM stuff....lol

I haven't posted anything nor bought anything here. But I really like the availability to find diesel stuff easier in here. Yes I do peruse the for sale/wanted regularly.

I too find it helpful and hope it doesn't go away. It's already got 2 pages...

curious, one of the reasons for this section is how fast stuff gets buried in the other section.
what did you really expect? the JDM, diesel market is a niche on the cruiser comunity.
i do not know how much trouble it is to leave this section running or how much time is saved by deleating it. if i had a choice i would leave it run but that is up to you, Brian, it is your forum to do what you wish with it...
i NEVER searched the forsale section for diesel parts, too much work for little reward...

cheers

Hey I agree. I too never look in the other for sale sections.

This is getting traffic. I too find it serves a purpose.

Would this be better as a sub forum off of Diesel forum? Like the 25 guys have?

Again I say we are dealing with a niche market.

Maybe we shouldn't be comparing this classifed with other ones. But like others complained, they feel this is just another front for vendor advertising, and it isn't allowed in other classified sections(?).........

i haven't used it for selling my units, just left over parts out of the garage but if the JDM vendors want to post up their goods that is fine by me, at least i know who has what and where...

cheers

diesel section

i just bought my 3b to do a fj60 conversion. i have bought a starter, alternator,edic,bellhousing,wiring harness,air cleaner assembly and a crossmember. the diesel-jdm parts section has been very helpful so far and i wil need a lot of other stuff diesel related. i am located in texas usa so this forum is the only place i search for parts. also the people on the diesel tech forum are all very helpful. i would not attempt the conversion with their help and knowdledge. my vote is to leave the diesel-jdm parts section as is. thanks for your consideration.

No, you haven't posted any units. And thats appreciated. As this is for parts.

I'll put my money where my mouth is: I'll buy a second "star" if it helps woody decide to keep the status quo. Just say the word . . . .

Maybe if we all pitched in a bought Woody a JDM diesel, he'd see the value in this section...:idea:

From a guy who doesn't have a Paypal account therefore he doesn't have a star... (previous bad Paypal experience...)

diesel section

woody, i didn't think of it before but i have 41 pm's. these are all diesel related and were originally generated from posts on diesel- jdm section. most ended in purchases. some were questions about 3b diesel parts. please keep it. also i bought a silver star. i notice others have other colors. what do they represent?

silver = supporting - $20/year
gold = generous folks (ie: sold my truck or emptied my garage, here's a donation)
red = banner/vendor (http://www.ih8mud.com/ads.php)
green = tech moderator
off-green = me ;)

I "have" been thinking of a 1HD-FTE conversion in my 80-series tho ;)

thanks for the comments, keep 'em coming!

red is a vendor star.
silver is a site appreciation star.
green is a moderators star.
gold is a big appreciation star. For someone who donated above and beyond the silver star amount. We have a few on this whom have done that.

Buying a star is a great sign of support. Those who do not have one should buy one. Especially if you spend enjoyable time one here.

I'm behind on the 2006 drawing donaters, but have a list....need to get on that before month's end...

just updated a few seconds ago with another gold star......much appreciated!!! ;)

to update my thinking....lol...another consideration I've been toying with for a while is breaking out the Sale sections a little...it's been successful on quite a few other forums to categorize the classifieds somewhat....that would clear this section for a logical opening then...

no knee jerk reactions, but I also know my one-sided opening statement would generate a lot of comments...I find you get better opinions and discussinos by polarizing things up front ;)

I'll swim against the tide and agree that JDM and Diesel for sale is not needed.

Either all in one section, and you head it well for search features, or like denis mentions...body/drivetrain. Would outfitting needed?
