having a really hard time finding a local 2h out of a fork lift so i decided to go with a GM 6.2 diesel. I thought about converting it to the serpentine belt system (or finding one with it) however i'm thinking that if i keep the V belt system i can possibly reuse my toyota power steering pump, alt and a/c pump with some bracket mods.

have any of you guys had any experience fitting the chevy 6.2 in an fj60? I hope i can get some mount brackets out of a diesel chevy and welding them into my bay rather than spending an arm and leg on a kit from MA

i plan on going to a 3" exh and exiting before the rear tire (single exhaust)

I'm assuming the chevy 6.2 has the same bolt pattern as the post 85 SBC so i can probably find a used adapter kit on mud to hook the engine up to my toyota tranny

i have a new radiator so i intend on re using min if possible

I am aware that i may need to put a slim elec fan on since i might not have enough room....i have over 20 fieros at my disposal so i should be able to swipe one without my dad noticing should i need one.

i still plan on converting to WVO

I really wanted a toyota diesel but the price just is not what i'm willing to pay. i can get the gm's for under 400 all day, they have more power than the 2h and parts will be much easier to find locally.

thanks in advance guys.

Hope to get this started when taxes come in.

there is a lot of actions now w/ fork lifts and you can then scrape the metal for a little money.. i went to one in spartinburg last week maybe 30 lifts there.

There are quite a few guys that have done this conversion. I am playing with the idea of it in the 80.
The bolt pattern is the same.

so far what i've found i can get the diesel adapter kit from marks that ill allow me to reuse my toyota flywheel on the GM flexplate and the toyota clutch. It also spaces the engine forward so you don't have to hack up or beat the hell out of the fenderwells and/or firewall.

It also gives you enough clearance for a V belt system.

If you adapt it to use a 2H alternator with vac pump it takes out some mod work.

The kit also comes with the adapters for your oil pressure and water temp.

The only mod you'll need to make is getting your tach recalibrated (or you could use an aftermarket tach) but i want to keep the interior stock along with keeping ac

you re use the gm ps pump.

Pretty simple swap so long as you have about 1600 for the adapter kit + shipping

I'm probably going to end up buying an old rusted out beater to take the engine/accessories out of and a military take out and put the two together to make one good swap.

I've read about weak bottom end/heads on the gm 6.2 but being they are so cheap if i blow one up i'm only out 300-400 bucks tops.

I may eventually build one with updated heads and a gurdle to beef up the mains but right now i'm a broke withe boy.

From what i've been told the engine sucks on the hwy but a 5 speed is in the plans one of these days.

Unless i find a 3b or 2H swap for under 3K i'm definately going after this 6.2 swap after taxes come back.

scratch the MA conversion kit

for a little less i can get a ranger torque splitter giving me a 27% over drive, that's a higher final drive than an H55f.

It will shift the engine forward enough that i will have no issues with my engine bay/firewall.

Since i have an almost new radiator i'll just have to match up some hoses.

I'll have to use the GM flywheel and clutch...sucks because i have an almost new clutch.

So instead of an H55f later down the road i'll just be going through the tranny/tc with new seals/bearings/syncros/common wear parts.

I really want a low mileage take out, maybe if i'm nice to my ex wife she can get me an army discount. (hahahahahaahahaaha)

First i got to find a rusted out diesel truck so i can get all the accessories to bolt onto the military block. If i can get one that runs well I'll be running the civilian engine for a while to save a bit of $$$.

they sold for a good bit more than what they are worth to me. For 2K i can buy all the parts, have the machine work done and assymble it myself.

I'm a cheap sob when it comes to my car. If i can do it myself and save some $$$ i'm definately going to save the cash.

When taxes come back in a few weeks i will be treating myself to some late x-mas presents for the cruiser!
