Ignition key won’t work need Toyota tech advise… (1 Viewer)

I just tried by mistake to start my 06 lx with my 00 ignition key, key went in fine with a ‘click’ then of course would not turn, puzzled because i just drove the 06 last nite with no issues, discovered i had used the wrong key, when trying to start with correct key… no luck ..won’t turn, tried wiggling , turning steering wheel against the lock etc…is there something that i can do the fix this…without towing the car in..

Ok found another post same as mine…took key out of ignition got a nut driver with hard plastic handle and a hammer put the hard plastic end against where the key goes in tapped rather sharply on the other end ( metal end) of the nut driver, it took 4 times of 6 taps each time, now correct key works fine…what I understand is the other key pushed in tumblers that are never used and they stick in not allowing the ignition to turn..then 2000 lx key had a longer cut with more notches than the 06 lx so makes sense, thread i read said lubricate with graphite, which is what i will do tomorrow..whew what a scare
