Hi and thanks for adding me to the group. I have an old BJ43 diesel that I have no history on. There are coil springs as well as shocks on both front and back. Just wondering if anyone has seen this before or knows anything about it. Thanks in advance!

Interesting. I have seen shocks with coil springs wrapped around them. One mud racer ran 3 at each corner, 2 up and 1 upside down.

X2^
Outside of the missing steering stabilizer, the everything else looks good. Was it a race truck? Dakar overlander? Usually front ends don’t need overload springs, just the rear. Top of my head, the only reason you’d want them on the front is if you expected extremely rough roads at some decent speed. Not something I’d want to encounter in my short wheel base ‘40.

Possible just for lift, but I wonder how it would ride…

Thanks, just a hunting truck in the Pyrenees. I think it spent a lot of time there on rough dirt roads. Only 62000 miles on it though. The stabilizer is on the tie rod. I assume that’s ok. It’s a new unit.
Rides ok, got some spring bushings to replace and ball joints.
