So I successfully made it to 200 LCDC. While there I encountered some vibration that I could figure out where it was coming from, I had crawled underneath the cruiser multiple times in attempts to find the source.

Well today while doing an oil change I found the source. My rear passenger side shock. I honestly don't know how this could have happened. I installed the suspension myself and wonder if I might have done something wrong.

The shock has lost a significant amount of fluid and wont stay extended. I bought the suspension on black friday and installed it in February. Not sure what my next steps should be?

Do I contact the seller or go directly to ICON?

Dang, I'd start with the seller. I wouldn't default to the installation being the problem... especially with the rear shock since there's less going on there than the front. Good luck!

Here are the pictures of the damage

I had 3 brand new ICON shocks leak within an 8 month period. Contact their tech support and they'll warranty the shock, but expect to be without the vehicle for a few weeks while the shock gets rebuilt and sent back to you.

Ooof! Sorry to see that!

Am I looking at this right and the shaft sheared off at the base of the threaded shaft seat?

I've only had them since January. The Colorado trip would have put 5k round trip and maybe another 3 - 5k since install, so between 8 and 10k give or take.

Not seeing any crease on it. The rub mark looks tonbe from the tire from it flopping around. Didnt get a chance to take the shock out. Hopping to get it out tomorrow amd get a better look. I did stick my finger in the top of the shock body and could feel the threads which would lead me to believe didnt sheer off but I should get a better idea once I get it off.

If the top bolt backed out, there sure weren't many threads holding it in; maybe 5-6? And a missing lower bushing? If the shock flopped around in there for that long and under those conditions, I bet it's replacement time. That must have made quite a racket!

I would go to Icon it may speed up the process.

I emailed both. Metaltech was able to provide me with a copy of the invoice. Waiting on icon to respond.

I suggest you call them. By the time ICON customer support responds to an email or follows up after 20 promises to do so, we'll all be driving flying saucers.

I did call them, they told me to send them an email with pictures and proof of purchase. They would send it to their warranty department to determine if its covered by warranty. I hope it doesnt take too long.

Hey, Michael, Jeff from last years LCDC and Expo East. Sorry to hear about the shock, hope you get it resolved quickly!

Have an update, I was able to pull the shock body off the truck. Looks like the threads inside the shock body were stripped. There is some red stuff at the bottom that appears to be lock tight. I'm not sure what caused it. By design shocks are made to move up and down so not sure how the threads got stripped.
