Icon shocks vs. OME

I have the Stage 1s extended & ucas with a BIOR bumper and 34.5 nittos. My ride is still a bit stiff up front. If the icon stage 2s run that much better, I'd start there.

Figure it out soon because the metaltech 20% is going to come to a close by monday

where is this deal?

I hate OME! Will this be good for on road only?

I run the Icon's with external resi's / CDCV's on all four corners and its a blast to drive. You dial it in to meet your needs and or preference from day to day. I don't regret spending the money at all - in fact I'm happy I did. This setup takes my almost 6000 lbs rig and allows me options of driving styles without sacrifice. It's bitchin'
save your coin and splurge for yourself - you deserve it.

I'll start saving up. I think a roof rack is ahead of them though, but they sound amazing. My first 4x4 was a 1956 Dodge Power Wagon, I think there were 13 leaf springs on each wheel. Mine wasn't quite so pretty as this and mine was stock with a flathead 235 ci six, but I think the OME shocks will be a nicer ride on my lx470 then my yellow power wagon. I did love that truck though.

That truck is awesome

My dad had 53' that was my 2nd truck I drove- it was a pumper truck for fire dept when he found it...... the first was a 45' Dodge 6x6....I loved that thing and wish I'd nver let him sell it but god it was slow....

I drove mine cross county (to see a girl of course) from Tucson to Colombia SC. It wouldn't go more than 65 on a level road, and it was scary at that speed! But off road, with that PTO winch, what a monster.

From what I've been told by the good folks at Slee, the reservoirs don't change the ride quality, they simply allow the shocks to run cooler under more extreme conditions. Maybe the Stage III shocks with the adjustable settings make a difference? I haven't heard from anyone who has used Stage I and Stage II or III...

I talked to Icon. I was advised to send my front shocks in for re-valving/ adjustment also, adding a rear BIOR bumper should make a difference too. [emoji6]

The adjustability of the CDCV's makes a difference, promise. these are stage 4 - which means i received rear trailing arms in my kit. the stage 3 and 4 CDCV's are the same animal.

Once I have all front bumper and rear installed the weight will be more noticeable (sliders were noticeable by themselves). Icon said when I send the suspension in for service (in so many miles) they (Icon) will re-valve for my new payload and that should re establish my 1-10 settings on the resi's. Until then I'll be mostly in the upper end of my dial for everyday driving as it fits my needs.
This set up was my first on a big rig and its been great so far. Its nice to know its not a one and done they are rebuildable. California is far from Kentucky and the down time for service is the only downside I can think of.

Zoom in on the rear underside and you'll see them hanging on down there. They are beefy.

I'll post some pics today.

The standard valving for the Stage II is equivalent to the "4" setting on the CDC. If you're consistently running at the 7-9 range, it's probably best to revalve them to get back closer to 4-5.

Yep

sorry I asked..... that's going to cost me.... ! Willy - love the RW's with the dark rings.... that helped me in my decision process....

it's only money I guess....

My rear bumper is on order from BIOR. Buy for the first time, the Cruiser had had 6 people in it. What a difference!!! The ride really smoothed out. They were all 90 lb girls. I can't wait to get my bumper on!!

Anyone run the stage 1 shocks? What's the benefit of changing the UCAs?
Anyone run Stage 1s?
I have the stage I's on a built 100. OME bars and 860 springs. I am running SPC UCA's and no drawers. I don't see a need for remote res. for what I typically do and didn't care to hassle with mounting reservoirs. I came from the OME shocks and thought they were stiff. The icons are much smoother. An improvement on pavement and the way they react to bumps at speed is nice. I do not have issue with over extension or stressing the CV axles with this setup. If I want more travel I drop the tire pressure.
IMO you don't need extra travel or remote reservoirs but if adjustability is wanted that's something. And if your tearing ass through the desert cooling could be an issue.
I dive slow and take in the views of God's creation.

Thanks!! I already have the Stage 1 extended and ucas on my truck. I'm liking them more. The ride is what I was expecting once they are loaded up aka once I install my rear bumper. B

After reading feedback on ICONs with SPC UCAs contact with the shock body at full droop we set the SPC camber adjustment further out and compensated for this by adjusting the factory camber settings. It's close, but at full droop it seems to clear everything.

Alignment turned out good and the land cruiser drives great.
